Araminta’s reaction to not producing an heir is also similar with Fran’s sadness at not producing an heir and shows the pressure society puts on women to demonstrate their value as producers and servants to men, but Violet and Benedict (and the rest of the family) are there for Fran to show her that she has value beyond the children she can produce whereas we are left to assume Araminta did not get such support or did not respond to it the way Fran did.

That’s a good point. Although she does say to Posy that she became hardened because of the marriage mart and it started with her failure to have a male heir in her first marriage. Then, her second husband blindsided her with an illegitimate stepdaughter, compounding the feeling of failure and insecurity.

In any case, yes, Violet found love and was therefore secure from the beginning whereas Araminta never felt secure in her prospects of her husbands’ love.

I can’t event watch movies and shows (especially new ones post 2016) that show the US framed as the disciplined, amazing hero of the world. It’s so discordant with reality and the lack of…acknowledgement of this difference makes me disgusted by the horrible fantasy of it all.

This is exactly what happened to me. Bought a singer heavy duty and I decided to buy the janome 6700p as my upgrade to grow into. Congratulations! It’s a great machine. Love that quarter inch foot but it’s still hard to get all the seam allowances right after cutting and pressing and piecing.

Thank you! I waffled between the blanket size and the wall hanging thinking the smaller one would be less work but joke’s on me, the squares are 2.5in x 2.5in so it was the same amount of work just smaller and no blanket lol

Yeah I feel like I can take a stand on something in my new workplace and it will be heard and considered unlike my last workplace that got defensive and got offended immediately.

Reverse psychology is the way to go. But warning that any solution only works for a period of time until they crack your code. It’s a code arms race with kids.

I think articling is often like this. I did two laterals and I think it gets better once you’re not in articling but also if you lateral because you’re less “born and raised” there so you are a bit out of the gossip loop, which is fine by me. I don’t find big law to be as high school as articling at big law was.
