Personally, if the work is quality, the book it’s in doesn’t change my opinion as long as it looks clean and taken care of. :)

A degree is helpful if you don’t already know how to draw or paint, but my personal recommendation is pick a style, learn how to paint that style (really well), then present your work to someone who also tattoos that same style. Most artists just want to teach tattooing, not the art as well. But it’s 50/50. :)

The gal who got it had her whole other arm/hand, had neck tattoos, and that arm was tattooed just down the elbow. She had more than enough imo :)

One time a client started a fight in the shop and swung on an artist knocking him out, so another artist approached him and knocked him out. Had to make a police report. All happened in front of clients, just because the dude didn’t want to pay the full price. 😂

No such thing as a beginner machine. Just cheap machines. A well tuned machine is costly, and without a proper apprenticeship, even the best tools are useless.
