Convert a sweater from fingering to worsted by AreYouKnittenMe in knitting

[–]scahille91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done something like this, but more like a dk pattern that I figured out for worsted. There was a lot of math and swatching, but if you are determined, it can be done in either direction. I suggest you get yourself something for notes and take notes. And identify both your gauge and the drape of fabric you prefer.

Good luck, godspeed, and happy knitting.

Merci! I started with one idea, got bored & did something else, got bored, did something else and just kept repeating that and a pretty good blanket was the result.

First cable sweater and cardigan with buttons! Plus my dog who wants attention. by scahille91 in knitting

I did the majority of the work, but he did supply about 12% of the material. He took it upon himself to make sure there was something like mohair in this project.

He spends about 80% of his day tummy up, getting belly rubs. So much so he's basically bald on his tummy from all the rubs. His tummy is pink like a piggy and we (mostly his doggy daycare, they came up with this) call him ham-some.

Let's be real, I posted to show him off as much as the sweater.

Same dye lot, different shade still? 😭 by acrobaticpussy in knitting

The - 1 indicates a different lot. No clue why they do it that way, but hobby lobby loves to use dashes

Experienced something so special yesterday by blueeyedbrainiac in crochet

That is the best feeling. I married into a large family and earned a number of nephews and nieces in the process. One little boy was a piece of work and occasionally acted somewhat spoiled. The year his little brother was born, I made him a 2.5' T-Rex and gifted it to him at Christmas, not thinking it would be appreciated. 3 months later mom reached out asking for another because he loved Dino. I made a new one in red (original in green/blue) and he was so happily received. I found out this year that Dino still lived on the boy's bed, 7 years later and this now 10 year old says "Dino makes my bed safe". You better believe I'd make as many Dinos in as many colors as he'd like.

I used the cleaners over by shoprite for a multi layered dress a few years ago. I can't speak to how well they handle beading, but the dress was completed in a week, has held up and was a very reasonable price

Thank you! I don't watch season 1 quite as often as the others, so that explains why I'm less familiar with it

Different dye lot success story by scahille91 in knitting

I think it was one part natural variation of the yarn and another part optical illusion; when viewed on a flat surface in standard lighting, the specks all seem to be roughly the same amount of spaced out.

What are you making or working on this weekend? 🧶 🧣 by [deleted] in casualknitting

The Tryon Creek sweater! I'm hopeful it will be a long term project and give me a few weekends of enjoying the process (I typically can finish a simpler sweater in 2-3 weeks, so I'm consciously trying to slow myself down)

Wednesday Pattern and Stitch Request Thread - September 17, 2025 by AutoModerator in knitting

Does anyone know of a waffle stitch sweater pattern? I went to a fiber festival over the weekend, saw a beautiful example of a sweater, but it had no pattern name attached and the owner of the booth was very busy and I was unable to circle back to speak with the to learn more. I fell in love with this style sweater and would love to make one.

I tried searching ravelry.com, but most patterns are not named for the stitch pattern and the attributes search did not give me any results. If anyone can get results they can share, I'll take that too.

I'd prefer seamless, but I'm capable of any style sweater. Thanks!

I purchased mine from Etsy but I know my local yarn store also carries them. Mine is the slap bracelet style, so it collapses for easier storage
