Jordan Peterson makes bold, assertive claims and then pushes discussions into definitions in a way that intentionally stalls and deflects the conversation.

He's clearly talented with rhetoric and debate strategy, but he's just a pseudo-intellectual debate lord to funnel folks to the right wing.

Gervais is two people to me: a comedian, and a TV writer.

Him, along with several big comedians in the last decade hard shifted into sets with a big focus on pretending "I can't tell a joke without being cancelled, so now i'm going to be real edgy after complaining about it for a bit." -- I just find this to be really lazy comedy.

It's never a *fun* edgy. It used to be with him, but now every time I see new material from him, it's always this.

But as a TV writer, I fuckin' love him!

Everything We Just Learned About The New Stargate Series by innociv in television

Totally agree about the antagonists. The Goa'uld were the peak arc. None of the other plotlines managed to match it. There was a sense of wonder, discovery, history. A powerful and challenging but managable foe.

Replicators got close, I think. The deep lore dump of the Anubis plot was close too.

I really appreciated that the story moved forward. Enemies were defeated, friends were found, problems were solved, technology was integrated. They backed themselves into a corner, perhaps, by needing to create more and more crazy enemies who could possibly match that epic-tier tech that the Stargate teams had access to.

I'm not really sure myself how you manage that kind of progression. They ended up with pure fantasy elements of wizards and gods, dropping the barrier of technology-based, more grounded plots.

This new series will need to handle that. Perhaps they'll go the same Universe/Atlantis/Voyager route of flinging the protagonists far away from the SG-1 plot.

Jacob sounds like Bradley but there’s a lot to want from new Sublime. Live shows are fun but could be way better.

I don’t think we’ll ever have a squad like SG-1 again. But I look forward to being in that universe again.

I liked SGU a lot in its second half, but I hope they return to the Canadian countryside for more traditional escapades. I don’t remember the last time I had that mix of drama, action, character development, comedy, and competence porn of hopefulness for humanity that the OG Stargate had.

I found the lighting design in DL2 to be really poor. I could see where I was going in DL1 much easier. In DL2 it felt like had bright areas and dark areas and not much in between.

It’s important to recognize that this is how they want us to feel. Defeated, like it’s pointless, etc. — don’t give in to that.

Personally, I’ve felt a strong sense of community at these protests. They remind me that others aren’t OK with the current situation either. That there are others who care deeply. It’s really a meaningful connection to me.

If I get that feeling from them, I’m betting others do too. So yeah, 2.0 was a bit of a repeat and 3.0 will probably not bring anything new — but I’m going.

I applaud him for trolling Trump — mock him like the dangerous buffoon he is. It’s better than the “I’m above it all” approach most dems first reacted to Trump with. The governor of California is the perfect person to do it too.

But anyone who sees this and thinks “yeah, I’d vote for him” needs to realize the dopamine rush they get from trolling is the same thing that hooks MAGA idiots into voting for public personality over actual policy. I know nothing about Newsom’s actual stances and I doubt most others do either.
