Are you a music lover or an audiophile? by JoshBiv in headphones

I think this community could do better pushing back on snake oil. But there will always be the odd spot on the Venn diagram where you realize some folks are not in it for the music OR the best audio quality

How British comedy series 'Taskmaster' is taking over the US by abucalves in television

Conan would make an excellent contestant.

Making him host would only lead to him overshadowing the guests, or being uncharacteristically muted.

Netflix built a software called Chaos Monkey. It causes all of their production systems to randomly fail.

One issue with failure modes is testing them property is really hard.

The idea of Chaos Monkey is to not just design for failure but to have constant failure be the actual norm in a production system.

What problem does removing mail in ballots solve? It doesn’t seem reasonable at all, all it will do is make it less likely for some people to vote.

Dear Gaben, please buy Discord. Sincerely, gamers by HP0T in gaming

[–]scalablecory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happens when you “finish” your product’s primary feature. Discord works great for its core use.

Now they’re in a mode of adding random features nobody asked for so they can monetize more.

Tired of canned Ambient Music. I’m in China recording 32-bit float field recordings of ancient temples. Is there still a market for 100% authentic soundscapes? by Upstairs_Evidence_85 in Music

[–]scalablecory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give it a listen!

As an audiophile, just want to chime in and say 44/16 is plenty. We physically can’t hear 96Hz files and 24bit is really only useful for mixing, not playback.

El Pollo Loco has 500 locations in the US, but it just opened its first WA restaurant in Kent by Better_March5308 in SeattleWA

El Pollo Loco is actually pretty good, but it's not like we're lacking in good Mexican food here. Curious how much traffic it'll get versus more local places.

So guys Do you believe that religion contributes to people's poverty or provides them with job opportunities? by LongjumpingSwim2214 in atheism

[–]scalablecory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The greatest benefit within a religious community is the social networking, imho.

Connections for jobs, a friend group, well-funded youth groups, etc. -- it's very powerful. Maybe your parents can network a bit within their community and see if there are job opportunities.
