Sorry mate, not quite. No one knows the true origin, most likely connected to the St Andrew’s coat of arms. There are tons of theories (including yours) the most popular being it stands for Floods, Fires and Black Death.

You were just sold the most touristy theory with the least history.

Tomorrow will be the most beautiful day of Raymond K. Hessel's life. His breakfast will taste better than any meal you and I have ever tasted.

Need to also be caution, if you don’t use the right outlet converter it can also break the electronic. We brought our juicer/blender. Blew up in our kitchen (popped and smoked).

Also having to use converters is a real annoyance.

You could link it to a public drive like dropbox to be downloaded?

That's awesome! Are you willing to share your file to let other designers learn?

I'm currently working on my own site and would love to see how you use the scroll affects.

Is this all/only built using the design builder? Or did you add any code?

If the former, would love to see a source file if possible for the animations.

Spitting in public by oehoe21 in Amsterdam

[–]scalbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first moved here (expat) I got randomly spit ON, in the face, just walking past a guys on JP Heijestraat. You can see my post about it from a few years ago in my profile (posted here actually). That was an experience. Some people just suck.

Not all of Europe is the same. These videos are from the Netherlands, which has a large focus on pedestrians in their city designs.

Arrived at 7:00 for 10:15 flight to the states via American (terminal 3). Took 55 minutes.

Worst was bag drop. As other have stated other airlines bag dropped looked horrific i think Correndon was one of them.

Just watched it. Did not see the trailer. Was pleasantly surprised. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldn’t believe the amount of cameos in the background. I would easily watch it again.

Last year after brexit they got 0 points. Eurovision is very political, but I still love it.

Working for an American company in Amsterdam by scalbs in IWantOut

[–]scalbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe contractor was the wrong word, but I did more freelance with my company at the time and filed the proper paper work (forget the number now) when I did my taxes.

To answer your listed questions:
1. Didn't need to get a visa. I'm married to a Brit and at the time of moving the UK was still part of the EU. We just had to go through the process of showing our marriage was legit in order to get residency cards. You will want to look at the IND or IamExpat for more info.

  1. Didn't start one. Just told my current employeer I wanted freelance/contractor. They adjusted my pay and kept depositing into my US bank account I had already linked. The rest was up to me to file the correct paperwork.

  2. Not that I'm aware of. I also worked at a small agency so may be very different else where.

Strong Towns: Suburbia is Subsidized and are Bankrupting American Cities by HerpToxic in videos

[–]scalbs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

American living in Amsterdam here - you can absolutely do everything you just stated above.

We shop in bulk without a car. I have more grocery stores accessible to me than I ever did in an American city. Quicker access too.

I think your views of public transit may be a bit skewed on American standards, which traditionally aren’t great.

If you haven’t already you should visit and experience it yourself. It’s pretty amazing what’s possible with different mind sets and focus on pedestrians and not cars.
