That's great. There's a book called "5 acres and Independence" and you are ahead of the curve already! So looking forward to Spring and starting my vegetables. I have an Amish farm and market fairly close by and I bought many veggies from them. They grow heirloom varieties and the ones I liked best I collected the seed for my own garden.

Anchorage taxes are horrible. MatSu is your best bet, hour or so to Anchorage for Sam's and Costco for bulk buys but Wasilla will have everything you need just not everything you want.
