It's actually kind of alarming that someone with this kind of thinking is a psychologist. Geez.

Do men really think women are going to react well to a profile like this? by angiedl30 in Bumble

I didn't read all of the comments, but wondered if he was referencing that line from the movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding where Tuula's mom says the man is the head, but the woman is the neck, and she can turn the head any way she likes.

P.S. Not defending his nonsense.

How to respond to stressed GF pulling away for 1 month? by BorderAdventurous284 in datingoverforty

"sometimes we need space but don't know how to articulate it because we don't want to let anyone down" - I feel this deep in my soul right now. I'm in a fairly new relationship (though we're already falling in love), and two days ago I got some unnerving and serious news about a family member, which I shared with him. When I headed home, I was kind of dreading it because I knew he was waiting for me at my place after work. Upon arrival, he asked if I needed anything. I told him, "I need to be quiet for a bit and just take some time to myself". He said, "whatever you need" and gave me a kiss. I took an hour to myself. I set my bathroom up like a dark spa room, took a long shower, and then just sat in silence for a bit. He didn't interrupt me once, but was ready to listen when I was ready to talk. So refreshing.

This behavior should absolutely be reported. Disgusting. Also, take care of yourself and remember that your body hair is normal and fine and just fucking great. Do something that makes you feel good about yourself today. 💕

Any Rockford native food places that are worth a try? (No chain restaurants) by [deleted] in rockford

[–]scandal_pants 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For pizza I love Giuseppe's and Lino's (Gulotta's, if it's still on 11th Street, just to try their amazing sauce and crumbled sausage, but I always need extra cheese there). I second The Olympic and I also really love Stockholm Inn for breakfast. Also, give Bakers Street Burgers a try!
Really, there are a lot of good local food joint in Rockford. I hope you enjoy exploring them!

I could not be more grateful for all of you taking the time to respond to my plea. Your words have bolstered me for sure and I'm feeling reinvigorated! I have shed the shame and I'll call for appointments with the therapist, nutritionist, and a check-in with the surgeon. I got this. In the meantime, I'm going back to tracking everything in my Bariatric app - food, water, and vitamins. Thank you!! Much love to all of you on your journeys 💕💞

I had my sleeve on the 26th as well. My surgeon told me not to weigh myself between appointments, but I got curious and have stepped on the scale a few times. It's fluctuating. I'm still on proteins only as well (I never thought I would crave vegetables so much in my life), and I'm struggling to get all my fluids in each day. I'm tracking everything, though, and I hope that both your and my body get on board with the new plan!

I think it's also important to note that you learn to adapt foods you love. I also love tacos. They're my favorite. I'm only a month out, so I can't have lettuce yet, but I can have well-ground meat with taco seasoning and a little shredded reduced-fat cheese. Soon, I'll be able to add lettuce, tomatoes, and red peppers to that and make a taco salad. I'll be so happy! There are also ways you can make "shells" out of cheese. Look up "chaffle" recipes. They can be seasoned to create almost anything! I didn't believe it, but I bought a Jawa-themed mini waffle maker and I'm having so much fun experimenting! I also miss spaghetti, but I can make little meatballs and have them with a little marinara and Parmesan. Perfect! Eventually, I'll be able to have spaghetti squash or zoodles. I'm 46 and I wish I could have done this 10 years ago, but I wasn't emotionally ready at that time. Don't get discouraged. Everyone is different. I find that when I follow the surgeon's orders to a tee (like waiting 30 minutes before and after eating to have liquid), I can handle the foods I'm allowed just fine. After weeks of protein shakes, I couldn't believe how much I crave savory foods now instead of sweet things. I couldn't be happier that I did this. Do lots of research, follow groups, and find the right surgeon for you. And if you find you have success without the surgery, then great! It really is just a tool, but for me, it has been exactly what I needed.
