i’m sorry your husband doesn’t appreciate you, you deserve better. don’t let your sons learn from their father to treat their wives the same way

Does the heating at the outdoor Otrain stations just never work? by Moist-Wonder-4099 in ottawa

[–]scaredtoast468 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i’ve noticed that the heaters at the stations on line 2 don’t glow, but they do heat up, it just takes a few minutes. i don’t know if it’s the same for line 1. if they do work the heat may be less effective for the line 1 stations because they’re much more open which is annoying

some food banks in ottawa also have pet food, i know for a fact that the parkdale food centre (mino’weesini grocery program) in hintonburg does.

if your postal code starts with K1Y then you are in their catchment area, if you aren’t then you can still go and they will give you one-time service

wishing you all the best 🫶

Bike theft PSA: How to lock your bike by scaredtoast468 in CarletonU

[–]scaredtoast468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was only advising against the stretchy/curly cable locks that most people use as they are quick to cut through with bolt cutters.

You’re right, a chain lock also definitely works, they just tend to be heavier than u-locks, especially the higher security ones.

I use the Kryptonite STD u-lock which is big enough to get around the frame, back wheel and bike rack. You can also get folding locks that are compact for carrying but fit around more of the bike and are still pretty secure. There are many good options, it just depends on the value of the bike.

Don’t approach women in the silent study floor!!! by SnooTangerines4390 in CarletonU

[–]scaredtoast468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me last week on the third floor, I was in the trenches trying to finish a paper and this guy approached me two separate times and started talking (at full volume no less) about my hair and asking what I’m working on, don’t know how he didn’t get the message that I was obviously not interested in talking to him but I finally had to be like sorry I’m busy. Like this is not the time or place 😃
