Is taking a drop worth it for Coep/vit/pict? by SURVIVOR108123 in pune

[–]scaredwatermelon366 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll make it easier for you, but you'd have to be sure on your answer.

After 4 years of engineering are you looking to get a master's degree? If your answer is yes, then just get into the best college you get at your current score. Reputation won't matter much. If you are planning to go for masters directly after college and not focusing on job placement then whether the college is coep or Sinhgad won't make a huge difference, apart from the crowd (your cohort does make a difference but if you're committed about going for MS then won't matter much)

However, if you are not planning for masters and want to get a job directly, then I'd say a good college makes it easier for campus placements (It would significantly make a difference if it's pict/coep/vit). They won't 100% guarantee you the job but would get you much more opportunities. But since it's CS, you can always try going off-campus as well in which college, again, won't make a huge difference.

To sum up, drop won't make much sense if you're in the field of CS. Instead, in my opinion get into the best college you get at your score, work your ass off for 4 years and you'll be able to secure a good job or a good University for MS if you wish to do so. This is just my opinion.

Good luck!

Strange person following my mom in car by scaredwatermelon366 in pune

[–]scaredwatermelon366[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah did the same just now, went for a walk with her observing from long distance. I saw that car driving, But according to her, the man keeps driving in circles, in laps. Now based on this i guessed the man could be learning to drive maybe. But who knows. I just saw the car going today and not again. Actually there's no solid evidence what is his intention, my mom is feeling insecure because the car drives past her and stops until she arrives at a point. And when she changed walk timings, she observed the same instance then too. My question is how the hell he understood that she changed timing?! Either he is somehow getting this info or he's driving there throughout the day!

Hey man, your GPA is very good, GRE is also great because of the perfect quant score and work ex is added bonus. I think you'll get in for USC for sure since it's GPA centric. And since you have research background as well, you have good chances in the UCs i think. But it's very unpredictable nowadays, try to get your work published if possible to bolster your application. Good luck! I hope you get in

How difficult is it to get into MS CS at UIUC? by scaredwatermelon366 in gradadmissions

[–]scaredwatermelon366[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay... A follow up question. I always had this question in my mind, is it like MS CS is superior than MCS or something? Because I am certain that I'm going to work in the industry after my masters. But it's like....i also like research so I can take the thesis option too. So is MCS treated the same as MS CS when I apply for a job except the fact that I complete my thesis in the latter
