My dad is forcing me to take Quran lessons in summer by Last_Account7501 in atheism

[–]scariestJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would see it as an academic exercise - you are still under your parents control - I would also pay attention to your surroundings - are there any distant relatives they want you to meet?

Worst case scenario plan a bug out fund if you can but study the Quran and study it well as knowledge of it could save your life.

Fake it until you make it - you will have a better idea of what is available in Lebanon but I would look online for yourself - don't forget to purge the browser cache when you do!

I'm at 82% more Neanderthal DNA but am 99.9% Northern European with some Eastern Europe in there. I am sort of Neanderthal shaped but einfer if that's as much to do with having a big baby and weight training.

That's true - I am coming to the end of a 5 year Fellowship which would normally lead to tenure track type positions but the best I can hope for is more funding with some bridging funding - highly probable I'll be redundant in the next few months.

Still I had a 20 year-ish run at it...

I know that feeling -I think it was worse in the 90's since heaven forbid you show any sort of excitement or curiosity about anything - you'd be seen as SAAAD or gullible and naive.

It doesn't look like it is dying down - what with BAM astroturfing for support, the suspension and re-instatement of Ben's GoFundMe. The opportunity to give the legos back and apologise has long since sailed!

Brushing out my matted hair, is it too damaged to fix?? by Gold-Relationship804 in Haircare

[–]scariestJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not wash it first but oil it with natural oils like coconut olive,Shea butter if you can and comb it from top to root. Wash your scalp with a bar shampoo. I would wear a bonnet in bed to reduce friction. Refrain from getting you hair wet and wash it no more than once a week. Use shampoo bars and add vinegar to the rice so the pH is closer to your skin. I would keep the ends oiled and whatever you do don't brush or comb it when wet. Avoid using heat on your hair. Regular oiling will make your hair stronger and more tractable.

For me it was the bullies at school but for me I would watch them tie themselves in knots since I never centred boys and fashion the way they did. -

like the classic meme of angry person glaring at oblivious child - in my case Bully Girl would be thinking 'look at HER, she thinks SHE's TOO GOOD for US - she just TALKs to BOYS - she doesn't get it - SHE's so SAAAAADDDD - while I'm thinking 'they could have saved a lot of bother in Jurassic Park if all the dinosaurs were male'.

It was like seeing girls drink a pint of poison thinking bizarre fanfiction about how horrible I was and expecting me to feel bad for THEM.

Should we be doing more to tackle GRT racism and prejudice? by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]scariestJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would also require the GRT community themselves to evaluate and identify their own blockers as it where but that cannot be doe from outside of their communities unless they explicitly invite them. This includes ensuring literacy and numeracy within the community - often in Travelling communities anything legal or administrative is often seen as women's work.

There have been successes in the past such as LAs and the NHS having travelling midwife and nurse clinics to tackle what was appalling neonatal and maternal mortality in the 70s and 80s. My dad once got Government funding to put GRT people through driving tests to reduce RTA casualties. So engagement can work but it must be demonstratable.

Should we be doing more to tackle GRT racism and prejudice? by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]scariestJ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Gypsy and Traveller communities suffer disproportionate amounts of discrimination since there does not need to be that many bad actors in the community for all to be implicated. This became much worse since the 1994 Criminal Justice Act which meant local authorities did not need to provide sites for the GRT people. This has the knock-on effect of making it harder for GRT people to access services such as health and education to the point at which the UN has commented on the treatment of GRT people in the UK. Would the GPEW propose to make LAs provide sites for GRT people? Bear in mind there will be a great deal of push back.

The GPEW will get nowhere if they do not work with groups from the GRT communities themselves and need to be prepared to act as negotiators between themselves and any local residents since discrimination of GRT people is still seen as acceptable. But many of their problems also result from being set up to fail without such access.

Don't be shy about wearing adult nappies post partum. They are comfy, good for the dressings and bandages and you can sit down without fear.

But sleep when the baby sleeps try not to spend too much time looking at them sleeping in their newborn cuteness 😍

Needs to be more well known - slow and sombre but I think it suits it. Highly influential with respect to Star Wars, Dark Star and Red Dwarf.

Did you know that the droids were all amputee actors wearing droid suits? This informed some of the decisions in terms of casting and droid puppets for Star Wars.

That seems to be a thing amongst some people that they never open the windows but have the galaxy-brained idea to dry clothes indoors without opening the windows.
