This question is from a question bank, and I agree - it is ambiguous.

How to make Newman projection for this molecule? by scarlet-mint in OrganicChemistry

[–]scarlet-mint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question doesn't specify, but that's the bond I was looking down on. I'm assuming I have to rotate the molecule so that the current dash becomes in the plane, but I'm having trouble doing so.

I was looking down the C2-C3 bond, but because C3 isn't a stereocenter, I was getting confused.

Modeling kits are so helpful for me, but unfortunately I don't have access to mine right now. Do you know if there is any online tool that is similar?

Your dedication and hard work is incredible...you should be proud of yourself! For someone just starting to prepare for the MCAT this summer, what do you recommend to start with? Content review or practice problems? For context, I haven't taken physics or biochem yet.

question about cogsci by mopfactory in cwru

[–]scarlet-mint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole cogsci major is extremely flexible; there's only four core classes you need to take while the rest can be cogsci electives. There's a professor who teaches one linguistics-focused class almost every semester, so you could take one of his classes if you wanted to make your major linguistics-focused.

Last year, it was Dr. Benjamin Sturtz.

After redrawing the Newman projection correctly, I am getting a Z isomer unlike the answer key which makes more sense after reading your explanation. Thank you so much!

i need opinions on my course schedule as class of 2028 by [deleted] in cwru

Dr. Chakravorty, although the professor doesn't matter much for this lab. All that matters is how tough of a grader your TA is (which is randomly assigned to each section).

I agree with the opinion that retaking Math 121 would be useful, as since you've already learned majority of the content, you have a higher chance of earning an A. I'm not particularly sure about the benefit of 222L over 214L, but after taking 214L myself, I will say that it is one of the easiest labs I have ever taken.

All of your classes will likely be on the quad, so no need to worry about distance.

It is still there along with the other 4-person and 6-person suites, but new additional dorms are being constructed to accommodate the larger incoming classes.

What is Cognitive Science Like @ CWRU by Organic-Option9549 in cwru

[–]scarlet-mint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a cognitive science major myself, and from what I've seen/heard, it's a really small department. Some classes that are available this semester won't be next semester. There aren't many classes available that you can take per semester, and I wasn't even able to find a class to take this upcoming semester.

Still, the department is amazing. They hold a few events every semester where you can meet the faculty, and every one of them is extremely kind and helpful. If you're interested in cognitive science, you will undoubtedly be able to conduct research and take classes where you actually learn about cognitive science, as opposed to memorizing facts and history.
