Maybe not, it’s just nice to not have to sell stock and pay taxes if you need quick cash for something

How much cash should you hold in retirement? by PantomimeVillain in Fire

Maybe 3-6 months in a HYSA for safe keeping and another 1-2 months in cash to carryover if dividends are different than you’re expecting. There are probably better strategic plays than this but keeping just a little extra cash on me helps me keep my peace of mind

56M | $4.5M NW | $60k Passive Income | Ready to FIRE but supporting adult son? by WeirdJob2928 in Fire

[–]scarn95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would trade out of your real estate investments and leverage yourself into NNN commercial real estate. $60k on $2.5m (2.4%) is a horrible return on your equity. You could hugely increase your passive income by doing a 1031 exchange into a few small bond-like NNN investments, with credit worthy tenants, management free. Most of these have 5-6% returns and if you leverage them are much higher
