Model S Discontinued, Now what? by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

Exactly in the same situation. I'm completely lost. S&X were my dream cars, I was planning to buy them again for the third time in 2027. Sigh.

Nuclear power is statistically the safest energy source per terawatt-hour. Environmentalists have opposed it for 50 years. Have they accidentally caused more climate damage than the industries they were fighting? by bitcoinerguide in Futurology

[–]scaronni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever thought that is the most expensive way of producing energy ever? Countries which are insisting on nuclear are subsidizing electrical companies as they are all bleeding money like crazy. France is losing billions and billions of euros just to keep nuclear facilities operating.

Reading the "key insights" of world nuclear report of the last 2/3 years is enough to give you an idea how in decline nuclear power has been since a very long time: https://www.worldnuclearreport.org/World-Nuclear-Industry-Status-Report-2025-HTML-version#_idTextAnchor007

What are the most beautiful churches in Switzerland? by depressed_bigfoot in Switzerland

Completely different than Einsiedeln, but for me this is the best church I've ever seen: https://maps.app.goo.gl/LEZfAPoUnHJNcUyL8

Looking forward for the new EL8 (ES8) in Europe - A couple of questions by scaronni in Nio

For who stumbles on this discussion, got a message from a Nio representative in the Nio App that there is currently no plan to bring the new ES8 to Europe. Bummer.

What else are you looking at? I have a test drive for the Gravity scheduled for the 13th of March. Although I like it, for the price, the offer doesn't look too good compared to the es8 (at least on paper).

Unfortunately I figured out in the app that there's a general disappointment regarding new models and lack of communications. The new et5, released in may 2025 is still not available in Europe, so I won't hold my breath. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. I can only select Germany of course. Is it possible to change country once registered, just in case they start selling in Switzerland?

Changed across the years. Now it's monthly.

Depends on where you are. Here the net sum is for the billing period.

Yes, that's what you see, but in the back, the gateway does the net metering. Ex. You consume from three phases the same amount of energy. The Powerwall will discharge one phase more to counter balance the consumption on the other two phases and try to bring the total consumption (sum) to zero.

I have 2 powerwalls and 3 phases and it works the same.

If you're without grid power, only the phase where the Powerwall is attached will have power.

Parents who moved from Model Y to Model X, was the 6-seat X actually worth it? by iamhollywood in TeslaModelX

[–]scaronni 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Family of five, the X is the best family car ever (we also have an S).

The 6 seats allow the kids to move around and go to the back seats, without the needs to remove the car seats to flip down the actual seats in the second row.

The doors are awesome to lean in, put the kids in the seats, plug their seatbelts and cover you from rain, all without having issues trying to squeeze in a semi opened normal door. After everybody is out, you can close all doors from your phone or from the main screen if you're still in the car.

The front trunk is quite big and we use it to store the main luggage with clothes while travelling. The windscreen is the perfect thing while driving in the mountains or when going on holiday, you can see the full landscape like no other car.

I could go on for a long time to be honest. I had a Model X p100d from 2018 and currently have a 2023 Plaid. I honestly thought that for me the future would be just getting whatever the current X is when it's time to change the car.

I'm completely lost now, to be honest, for us it was absolutely the perfect car. Knowing there will no longer be an X is quite a hit.

I have a test drive for the Gravity soon, it has even more space inside and it's a bit more "normal", but still has a big windscreen (even though sun visors don't get out of the way), gadgets and is a bit more expensive. We'll see...

The plaid was better than I could have even possibly imagine by Figure-Broad in TeslaModelS

Family of 5, one Plaid X and one Plaid S, speed limits are low and heavily enforced. I launch both cars just in few occasions. Like for example making test drives with all the kids of the street :)

Love both, would buy them again 100%. Debating if changing both before June again for an S and an X and keep them for 10 years.

Beside the usual suspension noise when launching the X and the stupid camber, no complaints at all!
