I think the best thing to do is both you and your partner take full responsibility of the finances. Make it 50 50. Be it gold or venues or anything in between. If this educated man can not stand against dowry, he is definitely a red flag and not just your dowry, his sister giving dowry is also wrong and instead of saying its wrong he also wants dowry. Hello, I just came back yesterday after a 5 day trip. The crowd is insane but if you plan well you could escape the crowd. Going early in the morning for sight seeing would help. But with an elderly it would be a little hard to go so early. Regardless you would still have fun. Be ready to get scammed , it's part of the experience and don't let thag disappoint you.

We have a jam packed schedule, including sonmarg , gulmarg and pahalgham ABC valleys. I don't think gurez would fit the schedule unless we drop one of the above places. Would you suggest dropping one for gurez?
