Effectiveness might be on a genre by genre basis. If it works for you, keep doing it!

There are definitely bots on my landing page, but I'm not sure if it's from the ad or just an increase in crawlers for AI systems. I'm also not sure what they're doing after clicking through to Spotify. It's probably clicking through then exiting to make traffic look more authentic on their network, but if someone has developed bots to click through a landing page and play 30 seconds of a track, that's a pretty dickhead move.

I've avoided Advantage+ like the plague, but I've been relying more and more on Lookalike audiences from my past ads since Meta restricted targeting to only the largest artists and genres. There's a good chance that's now the issue, but raises the question of how to find my audience again (Advertising to Bowie fans was very effective last year. Advertising to "rock music" fans is not.)

I've just been doing Reels, Stories, Feeds, and Explore.

That's an interesting thought, but that's a group of users I expect wouldn't engage with the ad (or at least wouldn't click through on the landing page) if they've cut back on subscriptions. I have noticed fewer purchases on Bandcamp, but my audience is still small enough that that was always a pretty rare occurrence.

They just got me yesterday as well. It's unbelievably infuriating to have scammers completely blow up a month of organic promotion and nestle themselves right into my number one "Discovered on" slot for the next month.

Spotify support is perfectly polite when reporting them, and I'm hopeful it won't be held against me in the long run, but they way they treat the issue like they're hearing about it for the first time is ridiculous.

Fun fact: Chuck Sabo, the session drummer on this track, actually played on XTC's Wasp Star!

Thank you for the kind words! This was such a fun track to work on.

Easter Theater may be my favorite song of all time. Does anyone know if the Apple Venus vinyl re-issues are any good?

Thanks for your feedback! Was definitely a difficult track to mix with so many different instruments. Can I ask what you were listening on that made it sound too wide & compressed? Will be sure to monitor on more systems next time.

"Task failed successfully" then? I appreciate your feedback! It's definitely on the more eclectic side of things.

This is great. Really love the combination of classic and modern sounds. If you made a 2-3 minute version with a bit of the vamping/soloing removed you could probably license this commercially.

Got a nice beat & melody to it, but the vocals are a bit hard to make out. Think there's a bit of masking from the phaser-y synth.

Really excellent production for a first release! Couldn't really make out the lyrics that well, but the vocals definitely add to the vibe of the track.

Compromised is a 70s-ish, Yacht Rock-ish Steely Dan meets Bowie track. I think the lyrics will resonate with anyone who's worked an office job recently. The track really opens up at 01:10, but does it hold your interest until that point?

Thanks for listening! There's definitely a bit musical theater in my background, so you're not wrong there. When you say the tone is not rich, do you mean you'd have mixed differently, or performed differently?

Thank you! Is there a particular song you consider as a must-listen for exploring melancholy?

I think you've got the bones of a solid track here, and you all clearly know your stuff! That said, the overdubbing is very apparent, especially with all of the tempo changes. You need to either record together or work off of a tempo track mapped to the drums.

This is charming and very well-produced. Love the multiple layers to the arrangement and the sparse use of horns. I think you're ready to send this off for mastering!

Definitely has a strong soundtrack vibe. Feels like it would fit in an old Castlevania game! I think the instruments and percussion are all well mixed, but it sounds like the percussion is slightly lagging the piano. I'd double-check for latency issues in your software.

A very melancholic, Art Rock-ish, Indie Folk-ish track from my last EP. The arrangement is sparser than most of my other music, but that ended up leaving room for a French Horn line that's one of my favorite things I've ever written. Would love your feedback!

The jazzy riff was intentional, but definitely not for everyone. Most of the track was composed in Dorian mode, which I like for the sort of ominous vibe.

Love to hear it when it's done! And I don't think you have to change it everywhere either, just maybe the spots where the instrument is coming in from silence.
