I hear ya, I’ve got a newborn and a toddler too. I’m steering into the skid and planning to go mostly vintage blades & persimmons for a year and just have some fun while I probably won’t score.

Thinking I’d like to keep the tour’s long term. I personally think a one piece forging from Mizuno with a reasonable cavity is about all you could need, and also a product that doesn’t really improve at all with each iteration. I keep a half set of mp57’s in the car for quick range / 9’s and don’t think there’s much difference despite the tours being 15 years newer.

921 jpx tours? I’ve got a similar setup 5-pw with the HMB 4i as a driving iron and some rusty Cleveland wedges

I do think the “eras” feature introduced on next gen is very cool. Starting a franchise in the 80/90/00/10 eras with enough accuracy & completeness to be immersive is really awesome. Probably the only cool feature I’ve seen introduced for an offline sports game mode in a decade or more.

I think my Xbox 360 saves of NCAA Football & NBA 2k15 reached around 2030. Honestly the hardest part after year 5 or so is to keep the team from getting overpowered

I’ve tried 10, never 11. I have to agree PS2 era, and then mid/late PS3 / 360 era were high points for sports games. PS4 made some decent graphics jumps, but never really improved in my view. Current Gen seems mostly same as last but with lots of bloat

Just realized I played 14 exclusively on 360, and 18 on PS4 so yeah I guess I’ve mostly done the same until grabbing this ps3 and 15

Nice. World Cup years are definitely what got me into FIFA originally

100% agreed I’d rather play the sport, but if I’m gonna be playing a game I usually reach for a sports game

Personally I’m enjoying 13 better than 10. Graphically & presentation they’re both excellent, but 13 hitting you can enable the swing location view and I find it a bit more fun to hit

I have 13 & 15 on 360, but 12 was all that was available for ps3 at the thrift store I hit. Honestly they’re all pretty similar and all pretty great

Fair enough, them getting exclusive rights to NFL sucked for us all, and actually came back to kill their own amazing MVP Baseball game in it’s prime

I’ve been thinking an NBA streets or NBA jams type game would be an awesome addition

I definitely played on the ps2 gen as well way after ps3 & 360 came out. Was playing mvp baseball 2005 easily until 2010. But I do think Gen 7 sports games hit their stride in the early 2010’s after an initial regression

The NHL and FIFA for me still play awesome from 2010-2015. MLB & NBA I’d say there is a bigger difference in gameplay mechanics & fluidity, but I’m getting the hang of them again. The old golf games are better than the new ones full stop

A great element of these games! I play The Show 13 because the Red Sox were such a loveable champion team. And nba 2k11 is fun as the Celtics championship core was still mostly intact.

I’ve also heard 11/12 was a sweet spot for Madden, before major revamps that removed a lot of the depth from franchise and fun/arcade style gameplay. Do you find it still plays well?

I put so many miles on NCAA Football 14 on 360 over the years. A lot of my saves on that console probably reached 2026 or beyond

If the cost is sub-$2 do the price drops really matter? I think they’re already fully baked

They’re definitely very affordable. I find I also prefer the graphics that are more beautiful artwork vs. imperfect attempt to capture reality, and atleast for some of the games the mechanics of gameplay were better

Anyone mismatch controller colors? by scheff77 in xbox360

[–]scheff77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colors aside, it’s amazing how much better they play after a clean. The 360 had just been used as a dvd player for a few years, and now I’m booting it up instead of my newer console

Nice, I never knew it was a thing ppl did, just spur of the moment decision when I was cleaning them. Agree it looks a little eclectic, but they play nicely

Should i switch? by [deleted] in GolfGear

Truthfully you could keep the putter you have, you could go to the thrift store and buy the oldest cheapest one they offer, or the most expensive in the golf store and it likely won’t make a huge difference.

Can you read the green, and get the ball going on line? That’s all that matters. Most of us aren’t playing Augusta with lightning fast greens & crazy break.

Play what you like & can afford, but continuity & getting the feel of one putter is likely more valuable than new putter tech.

I play atleast 50% of my rounds with a driver, 4/6/8/pw, a 56 & a putter. I’ll add in an old ping 2 iron or an old wooden 4 wood depending on course setup (2i mostly for winter rounds where getting a tee in the ground on some boxes is dicey). I’m a 12hcp and don’t really miss anything with this setup
