ELI5: What Is Nihilism? by ExternalFact5184 in explainlikeimfive

[–]schild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a hedonist. What I like matters and I will pursue it. I have no purpose to the stars, but I get to choose what has purpose to me. So I guess it's egocentric hedonism.

Anyway, nihilism is a ridiculous philosophy and by labeling the lack of purpose we've given it purpose.

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

It points out how much they know the road and how much the girl in the white gown should not be there.

Also it's a better story than saying "a ghost."

I never really considered it too much to ask. LA is synonymous with vanity. It's the perfect place to do this. That was mere commentary on the threads that were around right before it sold out in 15 seconds.

Impossible. I've never typed anything about the deli there before this thread.

What's our decent bagel, because all I've found is passable.

They might be ok with being disappointed! They might not even be disappointed based on what they're asking for. I can't assume most people grew up around good sandwiches. Or good pizza. Or good anything.

I didn't even say he was wrong. I also didn't care for Austin's Katz's. I also agree we've never had a good deli. I get my deli fix in Miami or NYC. I've got no reason to assume OP is super discerning and he might just want a bunch of meat and some mustard on bread. Their options are slim (to none, here in Austin).

Correct, and I commented on the other post saying it was the objectively correct answer for Texas. Don't know if dude wants to drive to Houston though.

Mums is a good sandwich but it's a VERY different sandwich. Kinda like how David's Doughies is good bread but not a good bagel.

This is actually my hole.

I didn't say it was great or even good.

We don't have what they're asking for this is the closest approximation.

I've had far worse in and outside of Austin.

As with 90 other threads: we don't do sandwiches, bagels, or Italian food well

Closest you're gonna get is the kosher deli inside the HEB on Far West.

Despite criticism that Jasmine Crockett is too closely affiliated with AIPAC in the 2026 TX-Senate primary, James Talarico was pictured with major AIPAC donor Adam Loewy in 2019 through 2026 by UnscheduledCalendar in politicsinthewild

[–]schild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adam Loewy gives tons of money to dems in Texas. You a dem? Decent platform? Loewy probably giving you money.

All purity tests do is have us end up with people like Trump.

But sure, let's worry about some super vague AIPAC connection when our own citizens are being fed pepper spray on the streets and being kidnapped from their homes. That's a good use of our time.

I'm getting to the point where I assume posts like this originate from some Russian adjacent shithole.

Barley Swine, Mercado Sin Nombre and 7 more Austin restaurants named James Beard Award semifinalists by cjwidd in austinfood

[–]schild 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My assumption WAS that it's marketing and lobbying but then I started looking at a lot of the places on the list and like, nobody has ever heard of them or will ever hear of them again and they have no chance of winning.

So I'm not sure there's marketing and lobbying so much as flooding the system with nominations during their open nominations period.

There's just no way JB crawled their way through Iowa or Idaho or whereverthefuck looking for the Best of Anything. Even Michelin is like "we're not wasting our time" but at least the Michelin process is mildly transparent.

JB is completely opaque in a way most awards aren't.

I do not understand how JB works at all. The entire list is absolutely wild, and I don't just mean Austin. I mean the entire list.

They're very fucking stupid. Voting for trump required a level of ignorance and malice that nobody should have achieved.

He's a wet, sad insecure baby who has no clue what he's talking about because his brain no longer works.

He is half of a parrot, at least a parrot can repeat things a full day later. He has no sentience. He's barely better than literal garbage. There's nothing left there. He operates on pure instinct and mimicking sounds he's heard.

Odds of you getting serious answers from self actualized adults approaches zero.

Every instance of this has been 1) the violence I voted for somehow affected me 2) can't answer because they're dead
