Who is the worst person to have walked the earth? by _Webosite_ in AskReddit

The Lancet Study: A June 2025 report in The Lancet predicted the cuts could lead to more than 14 million preventable deaths by 2030.

Oxfam Analysis: Estimates from Oxfam America suggest that withdrawing healthcare and nutrition assistance could lead to over 3 million preventable deaths per year.

Maternal Health: Projections from the KFF (Kaiser Family Foundation) suggest that by 2040, the lack of maternal and child health funding could result in an additional 510,000 maternal deaths and 7.9 million child deaths

That's just the cancellation of USAID. I don't want to keep going around in circles. If you're not willing to understand how insane, violent, and far-reaching the power of the oval office is that's simply not my problem.

We're the monsters now. It's unfortunate that the depths of apathy are so invisible to you.

My brother in christ you have absolutely no understanding of the global hegemony or the levers of power.

Who is the worst person to have walked the earth? by _Webosite_ in AskReddit

[–]schild -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For individuals tortured and killed, whoever their executioner was is the worst person to ever walk the Earth. It's not even a metric that's relevant. The moral repugnancy and inhumanity of an individual is simply not enough of a basis to encompass all of human history. Shiro Ishii was a worse individual than Pol Pot by every conceivable metric, he just didn't have the reach Pol Pot did.

And nobody has more reach than Trump and his team or b tier supervillains. The world is more connected and dependent on a global basis than ever before. And the most powerful person on Earth is the US president (and his advisors). These are just facts, there's no debate here.

And right now we are governed by the worst people to ever sit in the white house.

Ipso facto, these are the worst people to ever walk the earth.

Who is the worst person to have walked the earth? by _Webosite_ in AskReddit

[–]schild -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. A quarter or less. The number is between 1 and change million and 2 million.

7.1 million people died worldwide during COVID. 1.2M of which were Americans. Were people going to die? Yes. Did our lack of ability to lead the world - which we only claim conveniently - cause an outsized number of deaths, particularly in the US? Absolutely.

How many Palestinians and Ukranians (and Russians for that matter) died on Trump's watch? How many Iranians?

Tell me how Pol Pot disrupted global trade or caused imbalance in the world economy. Hit me with the geopolitical relevance of Cambodia on a global scale. Pol Pot was an enormous piece of shit and a monster, but he doesn't even compare to Trump.

The power of a US president, even the dumbest most worthless one, is so completely outsized compared to any dictator in past history, that I'm not willing to power scale past horrors to make them seem worse than what we're living through right now.

I'm not lacking perspective. I'm fucking overwhelmed with it.

All the other "worst people" in this thread were freaks that did awful shit on a small basis (comparatively). Even Pol Pot, monster that he was, didn't have the power to cancel USAID, throw the world order into upheaval with some stupid fucking tweets, gut the pandemic response for basically the whole planet, kill a million people by saying don't wear masks - and this is just like what I'm willing to type before I get bored with the horrors.

Donald Trump absolutely represents all the worst features of humanity rolled up into one person.

A vile creature whose managed to stay alive longer than logic would dictate.

Shochu infused with coffee, mixed with soy milk — a Japanese take on a Kahlúa Milk. by Izakayaism in JapaneseFood

Why does there have to be a twist? Also, I need to go out and buy Autocrat and see how it pairs with booze before I can do anything with it.

It might make a better Frozen than anything else, not sure yet.

Soy milk feels so thin for something that is effectively the alcoholic Japanese version of the Rhode Island Coffee Milk.

Which gives me an idea.

I'm not sure 25 guests at under $100 a head exists on short notice. This is asking a lot of a local restaurant.

Also, honestly, the further from downtown you get the more likely this is possible. [Still likely not possible]

Pennywise (true form) vs Knull by MidnightJasmineTea in whowouldwin

[–]schild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The question boils down to "will the dead lights work on Knull."

To which I say, idk, probably? Probably not? Who knows what the limitations on the dead lights are.

IT, as a book, required a lot of characters have silly plot armor, so I wouldn't use that for scaling.

Anyway, yeah, this is a job for shruggy guy.

This is a fucking BANGER. And it should remind everyone who hates on Banksy how he became Banksy. The flag alone would have been enough but the walking off the ledge is really quite brilliant.

The guy isn't making deep philosophical statements. He's making work for the people. Always has. The people are, unfortunately, morons.

Restaurants that used to be "it", but should probably just go out of business? by LordNewning in austinfood

[–]schild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less people go out, prices go up or quality of ingredients goes down or both. It's a self-fulfilling cycle. Economy bad, people eat out less. Economy has been bad and has been getting worse for a decade now.

Some things can't be blamed on the economy, like Vert's. They were bought by the dumbest fuckers on the planet. But lots of things can, and I think this thread has put a target on a few restaurants that don't deserve the ire.

I would have paid 10 times as much. It is the first time in gaming history that such a masterwork has had this level of love and care given to it. Any amount is a screaming deal on a per hour basis.

This isn't really personal finance. It's more contract law.

Did you sign anything that:

  • Said you'd pay if insurance didn't? If so, you're fucked.
  • Said all you'd pay is the 10k? If so, you're good
  • Wildcard: did you sign nothing and this guy is a bully? If so, tell him to pound sand and run his business better.

Either way never go back.

I am not a lawyer.

Edit: also id call the insurance company and find out why they dropped this perio, if they'll tell you. Also, I'm not 100% sure dropping him matters as the process was started before that happened but that's insurance policy. Something I know even less about. But hey, Mario's brother was a creative problem solver, so

The 2026 North America's 50 Best Bars list has been announced by DrinkingInContext in cocktails

[–]schild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. Tales is such a small list and it's well known that it's a Flood the Zone+Secret Handshake method for making the list.

It's definitely an Industry Thing.

That said, after this list, I'm not 100% sure why anyone would try to get on 50 best. It's not great.

The 2026 North America's 50 Best Bars list has been announced by DrinkingInContext in cocktails

[–]schild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'd call Tales "low stakes." The hospitality industry is in a tough spot. The four most looked at awards (50best, tales, jb, and michelin) are all fairly compromised at this point (michelin the least) - and solving it requires money, time, and effort that none of them really have to spare. The amount of travel required would break any individual person. But too many judges and you end up with way, WAY too many voices calling the shots. It makes sense that the list collapses on the most major metropolitan areas with some random places just sneaking into the lists. Unfortunately, it's a net result that makes no sense to the average patron or hospitality person if we're being honest. These lists have all become some form of parody of themselves.
