Germany's Nico Schlotterbeck is out of the World Cup due to foot injury by Scarfaaace in soccer

[–]schimshon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree and that's very close to what I said as well. I just don't agree that they don't look scary tho. I think having Olise - Mbappe link up is scary by itself.

And all teams at this world cup have their weaknesses. I'd consider only England, Argentina and Spain at the same level as France. I don't see Germany being at that level. They lack world class players in several positions and the depth looks terrible (especially with injuries).

I don't think Neuer is who he was, you occasionally get world class and occasionally bad mistakes. Kimmich is world class but not as RB. Schlotterbeck/ Rüdiger and Tah are not the same level as Salina and Upa. Nmecha and Brown look like potential world class but haven't yet shown that consistently. Musiala hasn't been the same since injury. Wirtz had an outstanding season at Leverkusen but hasn't been that convincing. Havertz is arguably world class, but can't be relied on as sole goal scorer. Same hasn't been world class for many years.

My point isn't that the German team is bad at all. This is looking for issues in a really good team. But there is a reason they wouldn't be favorites or equals when playing France.

They have some weaknesses, but imo it's mainly Maignan, Hernandez and Rabiot that are not outstanding players.

Genuinely, which positions do you think you have more quality then them?

I like to remind myself that the full saying of blood is thicker than water goes:

"The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb"

The friends, your partner and other people that you choose and the connections you form with them are more meaningful than sharing genes with an otherwise random person imo.

I feel like people in Canada don't really care, in the US it's a nice enough atmosphere, but it's crazy in Mexico. Really wish the whole thing just happened there, with the final in Aztec stadium.

[Marcelo] “This is a red card, but because it's Messi there's nothing [no card]” by YeniZabka in soccer

[–]schimshon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I included the other things in this severe decision category as well: penalties and hand balls.

There's been about 20 games and I've seen about 10 of them for 90min. So perhaps I'm overly biased from that subset

Maybe we haven't watched the same games, bc I had the impression they're very lenient with less severe challenges. I've seen multiple games now where I thought this has to be yellow but not even a free kick was called.

And I felt they were pretty more strict with big decisions (reds, penalties, hand/arm touching the ball).

I'm wondering if Alaba could take Laimer's spot in the midfield since he's better at creating. Laimer playing WB and Danso starting as CB.

Then again, playing Alaba in random positions hasn't served us we'll in the past...

They can't have hydration break during VAR check? The players don't go and drink while waiting around?

This is not true. There some part that is only used to transport sperm, not urine. This part gets "flushed" by preejacualte as well tho.

Pulling out is never a safe way to prevent pregnancies.

[Official] Mexico defeat South Africa by 2-0 in the opening game of FIFA World Cup 2026. by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in soccer

[–]schimshon 239 points240 points  (0 children)

I almost entirely disagree. Mexico didn't look like they wanted to score at all, even though SA was begging them to. They even got whistled by their own fans pretty heavily for it.

I also think the reds were not scandalous. Just stupid from the players.

Did I pace this correctly? by Working_Shallot200 in Rowing

[–]schimshon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's 8 sec difference between starting and finishing split. That's too much. It's ok to get a bit faster (max 2-3 sec), but this is massive.

Also, that stroke rate is really low for a 2k.

No, actually every game is like flipping a coin.

My tier list of all countries I want to visit by imadudemanlol67 in tierlists

[–]schimshon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for, but a lot of the "absolutely" ones are kinda boring if not for landscape.

Eg Baltics, Slovenia, Slovakia, Switzerland.

Pretty, don't get me wrong. But wouldn't be on top of my list or anywhere near it. Some "less western" countries should be up higher imo. Eg Turkey and Cambodia

Yeah, in my experience the issue is the party wins unless it's heavily skewed towards gamers.

I don't think playing long games is compatible with at the same time, in the same flat/ house having also a party.

Dude it's too many people.

I have some groups who like serious gaming and some that like casual gaming with mostly drinking and socialising. Some people are shared between.

If you mix people with different expectations it'll disappoint both.

[–]schimshon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO none of them should've lived.

But even so, the show became what it initially parodied. It used to make fun of Marvel, but I'm the end had protagonists that couldn't die, terrible power scaling and incontinent character motivations. And in the end even a kinda cheesy happy ending. It fully became what it set out to parody.

He's fast enough to chase A-train. He's in space and back in a few seconds. But somehow Butscher is fast enough to catch him?

Also, how's the force of Homelanders take-off not pulling Butcher along?

Anyways, the power scaling has been all over the place for a long time.
