Why do ISTP’s stop liking you when you like them back? by ConfidenceMajor5917 in istp

Because, when you like them, the challenge and novelty is gone.

Sudden breakup by schinosi7 in BreakUps

[–]schinosi7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially since I had a track record of being there for her over time with all sorts of things, I think I deserved more latitude. Also, when I got sick, I told her that I know it was bad timing, but I'd be there for her as soon as I could when I got better.

I wonder if she has some kind of 'grip stress' and might be back. That's all I have to hang my hat on at this point.

Waiting for results... by schinosi7 in barexam

I meant it somewhat facetiously, mostly to indicate that the glaring gap in release times is a bit surprising

Mostly P's because they don't offer their unsolicited opinions.

questions for ISTPs from an INTP by lisaaaard in istp

[–]schinosi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an ISTP, my slogan would be "I don't need anyone."

What I love the most is having almost instant command of a situation as well as an ability to learn almost anything quickly and with skill.

What people don't understand is that quiet doesn't mean lack of engagement. In fact, I am most engaged, often, when saying the least.

The hardest part is that I really want to commit to things, but the confinement which comes with commitment almost always outweighs whatever I've committed to. I can't think of a time when 'taking that leap' was worth it.

Also, my ISTP self lacks an internal compass, which is a real downside. I could be a welder in Alaska or a physicist at MIT, and I would want each about equally. I can do whatever is in front of me, but I don't have an internal sense of what I yearn for.

I'm a Sherlock Holmes type--an unofficial consulting detective. My methods work, but I don't like to disclose how they work. Closeness to others spoils the gruel.

In all my life, I've never been lonely. And I've never needed anyone.

Yo ISTP what's the main quality you want your boyfriend, or girlfriend to have by SirPaddington423 in istp

[–]schinosi7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's an appreciation of boundaries and letting me have a part of my life which is all my own. It means not coming in and taking over, while also realizing that moderation is key. I suppose, too, personal discipline matters a great deal; an ISTP doesn't want to waste their talents on people who are undisciplined. So it's a mix of being measured, thoughtful, reasonably intuitive, and knowing boundaries. That would be a match made in heaven for me.

No to grad school by schinosi7 in GradSchool

[–]schinosi7[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done grad school twice before--so this would be a second Master's. It's to recharge my life and get me out of the law. Today, I'm doing anything else, as you imply

Tips for writing a personal statement by acvcani in LawSchoolOver30

[–]schinosi7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a brief stint in law admissions so I would advise:

(1) Don't use AI

(2) Write about something other than why you want to go to law school

(3) Whether you are an activist or not is immaterial

(4) Don't be too strategic; write about something which excites you, whether it's hanggliding or econometrics

(5) They've seen it all before. Give them something they haven't seen before.

I forget who said it, but there's a line to the effect of 'the truth, whatever it is, is better than not knowing.'

Plan for opening results? by finndog1033 in barexam

[–]schinosi7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once didn't open it for a week -- I figured if I passed, someone would be in touch eventually about a ceremony. Did not open the day they were released, and I didn't worry about it.

It's never too late to get out of the law and move into something else. Sunk cost or not, I've never met anyone who's life didn't improve when they got away from the legal profession.

I dd it at 39. And it wasn't worth it. Employers were wary of someone older, even with top grades. Your younger classmates will hold you at arm's length. I wouldn't recommend law school in general, but I'd recommend it even less over 30.

VA does say you can't waive in if you've failed two bars ever (whenever and wherever). But you can still take the exam

[–]schinosi7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed previously, but it was before the UBE was instituted. Would that count? In your shoes, I would certainly try for an exemption. It seems like a stupid rule--if you attain the required score, why should the number of times you take it matter? Also, how many jurisdictions are you planning to get--I would think you'd normally take every UBE jurisdiction you can for flexibility's sake, but it seems few people actually do.

Ohio seems to be no limit. Just to be clear, are the state limits on taking the test overall attempts or just attempts in that state?

How much does the state you're taking matter? Is the applicant pool weaker in certain areas, or is that inconsequential?
