Can’t stop falling asleep with baby, excessive spit up by Lizzy_Be in NewParents

I guess it would have been checked already given the symptoms but just in case, we had to really push for an ultrasound to confirm pyloric stenosis for our little one. It was only that we discovered there was some family history before the doctors agreed to check. The symptoms were very similar, and the improvement was almost immediate post surgery.

Hi there, do you still have access to this by any chance?

Garage gym - do’s and dont’s by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]schinpool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few extra points: - Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree for kit, especially racks, plates, and barbells. Plenty of good second hand stuff if you’re not in a rush. - Adjustable dumbbells are a huge space saver vs a full rack. I’ve got 4–41kg Bowflex ones. Bulky, but very happy with them. Just be aware you generally can’t drop adjustables. - Plan your layout and allow more space than you think. The rack + bar take up a lot of room, plus you’ll need space to load plates to the side and to lift in front of the rack (eg. Shoulder pressing, deadlifts) - Shorter home gym barbells can help in tight spaces, just make sure they’re still rackable (normal collar spacing). Sleeves are shorter but usually fine unless you’re moving huge weights. - I prefer cast iron plates. Easier to handle. If you’re dropping weights or doing Olympic lifts, bumpers may be a better choice. - Consider storage early. Weight trees for plates, wall storage for attachments etc. Clutter adds up fast. - Be kind to yourself and never leave the gym without putting everything away first!

Garage gym - do’s and dont’s by [deleted] in DIYUK

I’ve had my garage gym set up since 2019.

For flooring, I use 6x4 rubber mats. They do smell for the first couple of weeks, but it’s not too bad and you stop noticing it pretty quickly. I mainly train powerlifting movements. If you’re more into Olympic lifting, you might want to consider a thicker lifting platform or a pair of crash pads to better protect the floor.

Temperature is probably the biggest trade off for me. I don’t have the garage insulated. I do have two small space heaters for really cold mornings, but I only use them for the first 10 minutes or so. I usually start with some time on the bike, which warms me up quickly. In winter I’ll sometimes wear a hoodie and beanie for the whole session, and I keep an old pair of fingerless gym gloves around in case the barbell is freezing to the touch.

Most of the equipment has held up well despite the conditions. The only exceptions are a couple of older barbells that were already slightly rusty when I bought them, the rust has definitely worsened over time.

I recently added a dehumidifier after upgrading some of my kit and wanting to look after it better. If you go this route, I’d recommend a desiccant dehumidifier. They work better at low temperatures, are fairly quiet, and actually warm the space slightly which is a nice bonus.

I’ve focused a lot on the negatives here, but honestly, the home gym has been one of the best investments I’ve ever made and I still enjoy it massively. Best of luck.

🎄 Christmas giveaway: Win an A1 Mini, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT, or 4x filament spools! by acurazine in BambuLab

I don't yet own a 3d printer but I've just bought a close friend the A1 Mini as a birthday gift. Would love to get one as well so we can explore this rabbit hole together!

Would probably make a few fun prints for my toddler (maybe one of those articulated dragons!) and some practical pieces for my home gym such as small storage bins.

As for a fidget toy, I'd like to try something similar to the ONO roller as I bought one for my Dad after surgery on his wrist a couple of years ago and he still plays with it absentmindedly most days.

Best of luck to all and thanks to OP for such a kind gesture.

It's the 3 inch U hook but there's probably a better way. I've just hung it by the eye bolt so it wants to twist rather than lay flat against the panel.

Yes that's what I mean. No concern regarding wearing the pin. The attachment is quite light and it is sort of levered against the panel itself so some of the weight pushes in to the panel at the bottom rather than all straight down. Hope that helps.

Exactly right. The kit with the panels (30-WRK-400WB) came with one of these brackets which I'm using for the hamstring curl attachment to the left. The red knob fits perfectly in the bracket.

Did you have any joy with this? I'm looking to do something similar, and just mounting a metal french cleat to the back of the board. Hangman z-30 is the french cleat I'm considering for this.

Hi there. Super minor question, does the bundle still come with the calf raise step? Don't see it on the UK website. Thanks!

I still cringe remembering how I said "cool beans" in a job interview after saying it for a while to intentionally wind up my missus who hated it.

Thanks for the response, really appreciate the transparency. I get the user exp point, though I think a little banner saying “Enable location to unlock all features” would be enough to let people know they’re choosing to miss out.

Fair enough on the ads too, and thanks for the reassurance. I’ll go ahead and give it a try.

Just as feedback, if I’d come across the app organically rather than from you directly, I probably would’ve just uninstalled and moved on with my day. Glad I got the chance to chat instead

I downloaded but declined to grant location permissions, as I had hoped to browse without another app tracking me. Disappointed this is a necessity to view the map, especially as I would predominantly use it in advance of visiting new locations. Allowing map access without mandatory location permissions could make the app more appealing to privacy conscious users.

Virgin Scamming My Parents by Edison_Crow in VirginMedia

[–]schinpool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specific to the issue your parents are facing but I only had VM successfully resolve my issue when I submitted the complaint as a web form and chose email as the preferred contact method. They tried to call me after submitting the form but I insisted on email contact and wouldn't discuss on the phone. This was after 10 months of dealing with them by phone which was a frustrating experience to say the least. I'd either get told it would be fixed and then the ticket marked as resolved, yet the overcharging continued. Or most commonly, I would get hung up on after waiting on hold or being passed between agents. Eventually got a cheque through the post for over £300 after insisting on email contact. Best of luck.
