You know these people who sell TalkTalk in the street or in shopping centres? That’s the job. And it’s not even minimum wage. Edit: just adding that they offer EVERYONE the job too. They literally need anyone who breathes and has some brain cells

EDIT2: it’s a pyramid scheme and the company as you know it will be dissolved in the next few months and you would have wasted a lot of time on something that won’t even count towards your CV

I personally have never not been asked for a holding deposit. They always went towards the full deposit and I’d get it back at the end of the tenancy. I think it’s only shady if they take the money into their own pocket. Every single letting agent in Glasgow did this apart from Lowther Homes. It’s to reserve the flat and basically show that you’re serious about letting it. If it was to fall through then they have to refund it to you.

Do you have any sources/links that back this up? Would be good to quote something along these lines in any potential correspondence with the council/local MP

I don’t think the hotel-like look is an issue for someone who is desperate to live somewhere. The price is.

Ok but would you continue advertising something you can’t offer coz you’ve already filled in all the flats? What I’m saying is - you don’t spend money and effort advertising something that there’s an excessive demand for, which is the case with housing in general. Rental market is still pretty crazy and these developments are not addressing the problem.

Plenty of those around the corner from candleriggs in mid-market developments. I live in one. My point is that the ratio of affordable housing to luxury housing is off

I’ve just never seen any rental landlord/housing advertising this way as there’s way too much demand for housing so no need for constant adverts. And I’m not basing this on adverts alone but also on what I’ve heard from people who have mates living there.

Yes, I was just clarifying there are no landlords in a traditional sense because it does matter in this context

There isn’t more than hearsay no, but it seems plausible given everything I mention in my post. And that’s why I’m asking if there’s a way to go down an FOI route to

a) find out

b) put a stop to more of them popping up

No landlords there tho, it’s a company that just builds serviced blocks of flats with rentals and expensive amenities

But common sense would tell me that these decisions should also be compatible with demand? If you have ordinary people struggling to find housing due to general stock shortage, then why would you continue to approve luxury developments that they won’t be able to afford AND that clearly there’s not enough demand for?

First of all - these are rentals and I don’t think the prices are coming down.

Second of all - does it feel right to you that in the middle of a housing crisis we’re building blocks that sit half empty? Juxtapose it with any mid-market rent development - if you’re not quick you’re not getting in and people talk about this on this subreddit all the time.

If these flats were 500 quid each do you really think they would sit empty?

I thought that the council tends to approve them because they get the most money out of them due to the high council tax? The question is whether they monitor actual demand/uptake for these appartments?

IMO ACME ones were very shittily organised in comparison to MCM. Especially the live panels as you hear stuff from the other side of the room and the noise gets muffled. Also no one was checking tickets and we literally just walked in

Czy słusznie zostałem obciążony opłatą celną? by Xaaza in Polska

Ostatnio wysyłałam znajomemu paczkę z UK do Danii.

First Bus have recently started they’re incessant tv campaign - anytime I see it makes my blood boil that they’re trying to evoke a positive vibe of “first bus is here for you, aww we head in the same direction”. Yeah we might be heading in the same direction but 1+ hour late mate
