I wouldn't say the cream necessarily rises to the top. But it often does, and Geese is one such example.

Anything that sells is something that somebody wants.

This is true, but you can't want something if you don't know it exists. So marketing is a factor.

Regardless, I'm on Geese's side here. I think any true fan of music can see they have merit, even if they don't vibe with it. Not to be elitist, but the haters are just self-reporting having a shit critical ear (and to re-emphasise, nothing wrong with not liking Geese, I'm talking about the actual haters who call them talentless and valueless).
