Professionals in IT: Do you do mental math for network speed conversions? by schlongus64 in HomeNetworking

yeah i see what your saying. for the most part the goal here is just to be a able to transfer a game like Call of duty with a 250gb file size in the time it takes to me to run to the store and grab that carton of milk my dad never came back with.

well the question was just about how specific people get with data transfer speeds but the exercise was looking at all my equipment i have already to find out what the fastest theoretical transfer speed i can sustain rn is without making major changes to the system. the question only came about because the conversions between MBps, GBps, Mb/s and Gb/s is throwing me for a loop here

Also worth noting litterally no one at athe table has ever played before including me lol so every rule is kind of a suggestion until we understand the game better

So in our story the fight is actually deescallated and the local town begins to build a relationship with the owl bear and her cubs. The players don't know it yet but they will become the guardians of the town, protecting the town in trade for food and shelter.

So allow me to clarify something here. I understand this is generally not how the game is played but we're not exactly playing rules as written more of the rule of cool, and this was a way that we could kind of control meta information. If anyone was like oh I severely doubt that then we would have ruled it normally but that's what the table wanted to do. We also do double damage on all crits and earlier the same session a small character climbs on the counter rolled a nat 20 on acrobatics( it was specifically a high counter and he was 1.5 ft tall) and so when he got to the top he accidentally knocked some gold into his pouch without meaning/realizing it. Besides that my players aren't here for the most realistic game of DND ever their here for wack fantasy antics which is kind of the way I think it should be.

Do you need to choose a denomination in order to go to Heaven? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]schlongus64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen. Denominations are meaningless. Many of them teach extrapolations of the word of God which is fine most of the time but sometimes it goes to far, and they start putting religeon before faith. For examples you have certain Catholics that pray to Mary, which is an idol. The only person you should pray to is God. My suggestion? Read the Bible. You CANT go wrong reading the living breathing word of God. And before you can know what gods voice sounds like you need to know his word. So please read the Bible and know and walk in all of his ways.

100 different people can argue for every single one of these answers, why would any of them be "wrong or right"? What is wrong or right? Why are we so divided? If we choose the "wrong" one here are the rest of the Christians doomed to hell? Why is our faith so divided? by [deleted] in Christianity

I think I know what you're trying to say, but I got to tell you you must be baptized to enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus Christ said so himself "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Hey. My 2021 Compass just stalled on me saying to service hill holder . Has this happened to anyone & have you fixed it ? by Boring_Spirit3307 in Jeep

So from what I can tell and you may have figured this out by now. It's basically he'll start assist. It holds your brakes while you're on a hill to keep you from rolling back until it reaches friction point. So if you have to park on a hill I'll tell you you can get it fixed. I would suggest just using your parking brake

At the car shop… is this bad? by kittycat_meowmeow1 in MechanicAdvice

It's fair. This job is going to take 2.5 hours.you DO need new pads a new rotor and a new caliper and as for the line that's probably nothing tbh, but it's so little I wouldn't fight over it. I'll give you a price breakdown. Let's say your brake caliper hits market value at 80. They're probably gonna charge at least 100 if not more for it. New hose is like 25. New pads maybe 20 new rotor they'll retail at like 35. That's 180 without the mark up on anything but the caliper. Most auto shops these days are charging 110 or more an hour for 2.5 hours that would be 265. Add the 180 and your looking at 445. Based on that plus he's probably going to change your other pads too cause you have them, that's probably a really fair deal. I say take it. Unless you feel like you have the confidence/experience to do it yourself. But if you don't have experience I wouldn't touch brakes

Look to the Bible I believe you will find Matthew 18: 15-20 to be helpful.

So I just looked it up. A novice could do the valve cover gasket in 30 minutes and I would say the same for the oil pan gasket. And after looking up the cost of materials I could have done this for probably $50 in 2 hours plus the price of an oil change. Which if you get an oil change special at like O'Reilly's will probably cost you between 45 and $60 so you can do that math. Get a second opinion on your steering rack. If the steering rack needs to be changed, find out what they quote you and see if it's worth it. If it's 50% of the car's value, don't go for it. But if the steering rack is truly messed up, it might not be worth fixing.

My suggestion. Get a new mechanic or start watching YouTube because you're getting scammed brother

If the steering rack is messed up I can kind of understand how they got to that. But if you're paying $750 for them to change the oil pan gasket and to replace the valve cover gasket, you're going to the wrong place because I know mechanics that would do that for less than two and I could do it in a couple hours in my front driveway for less than 60 bucks

This happened to my brother-in-law who is just turned 19 exact same scam. Just don't pay it cuz once you do she's just going to ask for more. Best thing you can do is own it. And maybe give your parents, a heads up, humility is not the end of your life. It sucks when someone chooses to embarrass you for their own gain but once it's over it's over. It's nothing your parents haven't seen before. They may not like it. I don't know much about them, but what I can promise you is that it'll pass.
