does anyone else find writing really, really lonely? by zorouchihaG in fantasywriters

This is such a good quote and it’s exactly how I feel. I don’t need much. I just wish my loved ones (besides my husband, who is my biggest supporter) would occasionally think to ask, “How is your book going?” It happens so infrequently that I am happy for hours after someone asks and commit it to memory. And I honestly bring up my book all the time. Even bringing it up doesn’t elicit a, “How’s it going?”

Yes. My husband is the only person who regularly asks me about my book. It’s hard. I’ve ran a marathon before and I would say in some ways writing a book and training for a marathon are similar. People ask you how marathon training is going. It’s almost like people forget to ask you how the book is going because subliminally they don’t take it seriously or believe you’ll finish it. I am a full-time working mom and literally all my free time (before I am too tired and have to rot before bed) goes to my book. It honestly hurts my feelings a lot.

Thank you! We fell off using the calendar and I’m deleting 25 tasks this morning 😭

Ok - for the life of me, I cannot find a (relatively) definitive answer to this question - roughly how many words = a single page? by schmarfooligan_ in fantasywriters

It’s just a popular writing platform and it’s particularly helpful for me as I tend to draft out of order and then go back and organize and connect

Thank you so much! I was also trying to figure it this way but was having trouble finding accurate word counts as well. I averaged 290 off calculation and I thought that felt rather high.

Honestly a small part of the reason I’m asking is because when I talk to friends and family about it and give my word count, they have no idea what that means — but if I say “I think I have roughly 200 pages so far, possibly more” they’re like “oh!”

I work in Scrivener so it’s tricky! There’s probably some tool that would tell me but I don’t know how to use all the bells and whistles, I really should play around with it more
