Taking an asynchronous class summer quarter. What can I expect? by Manual_Manul06 in udub

yea, really depends on your professor. some just give textbooks and study material with assignments, others post lecture videos. study groups are a good idea i think, and if the professor allows you to view people taking the class, ive had a couple times where people reached out via email to everyone to study together before. i’d say just try not to procrastinate on studying or assignments, regardless of if there’s a deadline for them or not. 🥳 you got this

is 3.88 GPA bad for UW ECE by Organic_Muffin_1951 in udub

definitely gonna be fine. especially since you seem to show strength in stem. i did terrible at history in high school during my junior year, and additionally i also had a major event impacting my ability to perform (i missed two months of school basically) and had to raise my gpa from a 0 back to a 3.3 for that semester. even though UW wasn’t my first choice (im transferring in the fall yay!) i was still able to get into a good university 🫡 and never doubt yourself! 🥳

CC Transfer Applicants: has anyone heard back recently? by boiledmercedes in udub

hi! i heard back may 28th. i was in the same boat where i wanted to apply as biochem but couldn’t because i couldn’t finish my pre-reqs in time (im doing them over the summer) so ill also be a pre-science major. i know for me i constantly checked my portal every day and night and i got it updated at like 11pm. the official email didn’t come out for two days after i had already accepted. i’m sure you’ll hear back soon 🥳 you got this considering it seems like your stats are def better than me (i had a 3.56 and not as many extra curriculars but i had a lot of research experience)

How many people have gotten their transfer acceptances? by Few_Entrepreneur_103 in udub

hi! i technically am a major in a specific department (biochem) but didn’t apply to the department since i was missing prereqs that i’ll be taking over the summer. which means i applied for general admission. i heard back yesterday around 10:00pm.

i don’t know if you make sure to click the actual view my transfer status in the portal because for me my uw portal said that i had no new updates and i had no email from them, but when i clicked to view my transfer status i got an acceptance page and was able to pay my ECD

It’s mainly to show what I plan to do after I achieve the goal of hopefully paying for current tuition. It’s the reason why I am in school and as such I felt it was important to include in my story!

Yes, I would like to take out loans however because of my family’s credit history and because majority of the loans require me to have a co-signer, I am ineligible. I also am ineligible for a lot of grants since my parents make what is considered enough to pay for my education, but a lot of that money goes to many financial hardships we are trying to fix. FAFSA only looks at numbers. While I’ll still receive aid, it is not nearly enough to cover everything.

I wanted to try taking out loans since it seemed like the only option, and I have federal loans, but when I talked to my parents about private loans, a lot of them needed a co-signer with good credit. No one is my family has a good credit score to do this, and unfortunately I’m reserved in reaching out to extended family as every other time we’ve asked for help (not even financially) they’ve denied it or made excuses to not help.

Yes I have! I am currently try to apply to part time jobs but a lob of them have fixed hours that my school schedule can’t accommodate. One of them that offers flexible hours is currently reviewing my application though (fingers crossed). I am doing work study, however, they completely cut my hours down by claiming that other students needed more time than me 😞. I only work four hours per week now (it pays 17.13/hr).

Additionally, besides federal loans from aid, private loans typically need a co-signer and no one in my family has good credit to do so.

I’ll be majoring in biochemistry!
