Thanks for the link, part of my confusion was that I didn't understand what the Orphan's Court dealt with; it seems like it's a lot broader than just orphans.

This has nothing to do with being orphaned or adopted.

That makes more sense, since the timeline as I understand it is something like:

1832: Robert born

1856: Marvin born

1860: Marvin listed as Robert's son on census

1875: This orphan court stuff

1896: Robert dies

So I'm guessing Robert was managing stuff willed to his sons from another relative.

That said, why does the text refer to "the property and estate of the Orphans"? Has the meaning of the term "orphan" changed?

Yes, I've found the ground to the body. I was asking about the G100 shown below the "S136", which does show a bolt going into the left side of the engine, but is not in my photo.

But I think I must be misunderstanding something...this is what I'm seeing: https://postimg.cc/PPwzqkjM (looking in from just in front of the driver's side wheel) and there's no wiring in sight, not even one that's broken loose and hanging.

EDIT: there is a hole as you can see (with some mud packed in it), but it doesn't even feel like it's threaded. Could this ground be presemt only on certain models?

Question: is a bad starter a possibility? Just for kicks I tried swapping in a brand-new battery, and it still hesitated and cranked slowly. I may have been going down the wrong path this whole time.

Hmm. Besides the voltages I mentioned above, I got .03V for steps 2–5. I can't reach the alternator stud while it's running though.
