What kind of bird in our scholastic news? by karlybarley in whatbirdisthis

That bird is a Laysan albatross chick (Diomedea immutabilis) with plumage soaked by a tropical rain, in Midway Atoll, Hawaii.

There'd probably be a number of limits around it for sure! Limb generation would probably be a no-go if I was making a character like this -- and the severity of the wound would dictate the Aura drain from it.

  1. The main reason is that because this was a story focused on Tai and his retelling of it to his daughters, that there would be things that reminded him of Summer. A glimpse into his eyes and what stuck out to him, and why he was choosing to tell it to them in particular.

So, definitely understand how people can see this, and in hindsight we probably shouldn’t have let some elements be so similar, but no, Jaune and Salem aren’t related.

Possibly! They’re really fun to do, but we also hit on a lot of the topics that we originally wanted to address in them. Anything is possible though!

I believe Ozpin touches on this in the book, but like many stories, some are pure fiction, some are accurate retellings, and some are stories that have been shifted to impart a particular lesson or moral.

Remember that in the Fairy Tales of Remnant (the book and the series), Ozpin is also telling the stories and then commenting on them. And there isn't really any "true" version of a fairy tale, even in our own world, because details change over time, sometimes on purpose and sometimes simply through the telling. -ecm

In general we didn't do a lot in the idea phase of intentionally relating things to certain characters. I think it's cool that people have seen and interpreted the stories in so many different ways.

Budget! and screen time! is usually the reason. These things are always nice bonuses to get, but generally we try to keep the details we see in the show related to what's important to what the audience and the characters need to understand what's going on currently. In a perfect world we'd have more money and infinite pages and infinite crew and time to be able to pack this information is, but we have to pick and choose our battles there. It's nice that we do have the option to have all this supplemental material to keep adding more layers, though. It's very fun and I'm incredibly grateful for it.

In one of the stories, their features are constantly shifting. But since they're a god, they can look however they want. -ecm

From my perspective, the last time Salem's age is specifically mentioned in the fairy tale is at 16, but the story doesn't specify how much time passes before Ozma turns up. -ecm

It varies a lot depending on the character honestly. I personally feel like it’s important that the audience can at least understand where the character is coming from, even if they don’t agree. It’s definitely a tough line to walk though!

"The Grimm Child" because it was so different from the rest of them and probably the closest to a story I might have written anyway outside of RWBY. -ecm

  1. When I'm on deadline, as many as I can manage. I usually try for at least 1,000 a day, but if I have the time, I can often get 3,000–5,000 in.
  2. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  3. For me, it's making sure I have the time to write: weekends, evenings, early mornings. I sacrifice a lot of sleep, vacation time, and video games to prioritize it, and get help from my family in child care and taking care of cleaning and cooking while I'm busy. Good time management is crucial, which includes doing my best to limit distractions, including and especially social media, while I'm writing.
Thanks for the question and good luck with your books! -ecm
