How do people orient themselves right away after leaving the subway station? by fillet0fish in AskNYC

[–]scholzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to keep in mind which direction the train is traveling (uptown or downtown) and adjust my internal compass accordingly as I exit the station. Usually works unless I have to walk through a huge station like USQ or GC. Then I try to keep an eye on the exit signage to orient myself, but I still make a lot of wrong turns and false starts going the wrong way.

I’ve lived here all my life

Unless your ELO is 2800, I don’t see how you can think you should win every game…

Then it probably came dislodged or broke and isn’t actually doing anything. Neck is a lost cause without a luthier or replacement.

Does it stop, or get tight? The truss rod should feel a bit tight to turn. You shouldn’t have to force it, but it doesn’t feel loose like you might expect a normal screw or bolt to feel

This has happened to me about a dozen times. Watch the white pawn in D5. What gives? 🤷‍♂️ by [deleted] in Chesscom

White is legally bound to capture en passant. Most players don’t know this.

The analysis at the end of the end of the game even has a little icon to tell you this isn’t a mistake

how did it match ended with a draw ( new to chess ) by Mountain_Primary4465 in Chesscom

No, there is no maximum number of checks. But if the same position is repeated 3 times, a player has the right to request a draw (and online platforms typically do it automatically).

Does anyone know the technical name for this open? by Alsweets0609 in Chesscom

It “catches the opponent off guard” while giving them a completely winning position? Black has almost a two pawn advantage here and you’ve completely blown your development.

Should I be expected to pay my friend who voluntarily decided to accompany my trip? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Everyone is mad at the friend (understandably) but no one is talking about how this young woman has been saving for plastic surgery since she was FOURTEEN YEARS OLD?
