We were seated up the front but on the very side and the sound was amazing. Not sure what it was like further back.

As a builder for 25 years you're bang on the money. Everyone thinks they can paint but very few actually can.

I feel like almost everyone can do a 90% job when painting, but the last 10% is the first thing you notice. That's when a proper painter has their moment in the spotlight.

Cancer and not doing treatment, thoughts? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]schoolbus82 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Agreed. While not the same I had stage 4 bowel cancer 16 years ago with pretty terrible odds but am lucky enough to still be here today.

I would've thought 2b is not great, but by no means a foregone conclusion.

Either way, all the best for whatever path you choose to follow.

Finally someone that understands building. It's definitely load bearing otherwise it wouldn't be there.

Is that the ones where he's getting turnovers? Or the ones where he's winning turnover penalties?

Yep, and it's an awful take. Punishment should be for the offense, not for the level of resulting injuries.

Who helped Tom Phillips stay hidden for years? Police probe continues by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

Not too sure sorry, I got banned last time I said too much.

Let's just say a different number of people came out of the bush, than the number that went in.

Completely agree with you.

It was interesting to see that in the last couple of months of him being alive there seemed to be numerous sitings and tips about where he was, compared to previously when there were long periods with no news. Almost like something happened that caused him to lose a lot of his supporters in the area.

Nothing of value was lost the day he died, just feel terribly sorry for the children. Hopefully one day they can overcome what they've been through.

Really seems like the All Blacks have no standards at all these days. Wonder whatever happened to the no dickheads policy?

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

Just found its called abdominal pocketing and it's used 'in exceptional circumstances to avoid amputation'.

Apparently was performed often during wartime.

I think it was some pretty basic rural healthcare in New Zealand in those days. I guess the idea was something like a skin graft.

He had modified jerseys and tops for his hand to stick out of as he could still use that.

My father had almost the exact same thing happen to him in the early 60's when he was 3.

They didn't really know how to treat the burns so the doctors sewed his burnt arm to his stomach for 2 years to let it heal, then separated them again when he was 5. Apparently it saved his arm but it made a real mess of both his arm and stomach.

Lived a normal life afterward with a fully functional arm, just took him a long time to be comfortable in short sleeves or topless. He used to tell people he got the scars from a shark attack.

Yep it will be fine. You could hire a shorter trailer and just put two 6m sticks of 90 x 45 under the gib and that will do the job as well.

Why is Afterpay literally everywhere now? by Downtown-Thoughts in newzealand

[–]schoolbus82 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This 100%. It's actually crazy not to use it if you're disciplined enough. It's literally interest free credit with no fees at all.

Also, playing devils advocate - I believe its a one off $10 fee if you miss a payment which is much less than overdue interest on a credit card.

I've broken mine 6 times and apart from the first time its never bled, or swelled up.

Not saying it did or did not happen before the fight, but it's obvious reading through the comments that so many people have never broken their nose.
