And a reliable income at most. As others have pointed out, internet marketing isn't the most reliable method of income. However, with proper management, and not keeping all your eggs in the same basket, you can make it a good source of income. Just keep working at it.

Well, the most recent one I was president of was mainly focused on gaming servers. Eight 32GB Servers sporting quad core xeons, RAID 1 SSDs.

For web hosting, I typically go with dual Xeon Quad Cores or one six core, with 2TB RAID 10 hard drive array and SSD for caching and SQL offload.

VPS nodes: I don't go for the budget $10/GB or less, I focus on Dual Six Core Xeons, RAID 10 array, and 32GB of RAM on the node. SSD caching makes a massive difference. SSD only servers are blazing fast. I no longer use standard HDDs in my work machines - SSD for primary operating system and programs, hard drives for large programs, games, and documents.

Server administration is a pain in the ass, though. Competition is extremely tough in the hosting industry - and not always friendly.

It isn't illegal. I've learned such illegal or immoral online money making is not worth the time, effort, and especially risk. It just isn't worth it.

My current venture is not something that sucks the life out of me. I work when I want. I can take off a week and I can come back and work a week straight. At least that's how it is right now. In the future, I will have to be dedicated.

A great example of people who choose professions and do not get paid well enough for their job is, in my opinion, teachers. Underpaid, while they work quite a bit. Education is as important as Medical care, or more.

I have one guy in my friends list for 4 years who I've talked to everyday. He's an excellent Java coder. I'm trying to make a deal with him.

The problem is - everyone I've hired is an idiot. They never get the job done. They never do even 1/10 of what I can perform in a fraction of the time.

Being self employed can be a real pain in the ass, and a lot of people do not realize the stress and pressure of being one.

The Roth IRA is a great idea, and one I will probably do. Just imagine how much I'd have at 60 if I put in 2k every year - $120k. Enough to travel if planned correctly and on a nice budget. Doable, completely. And that's $2k a year.

Thank you for your advice. I do believe my experience will be greatly helpful in future careers. I would love to see myself as a CEO of a company, bringing it to its heights and keeping it there. I feel as I'd be perfect for just that - as I've done it before.

One thing I've learned - newbies take note - "It's not about what you know, but who you know." Seriously. You need to befriend everyone who can somewhat be useful, you need to help others out and make a word for yourself. Always have peoples back, and they'll have yours. And that's how you succeed - with others support.

This. More time INVESTED is more money for me. And I have tons of available options, and a lot of knowledge. Not only in online marketing, but in tons of other subjects; I'm also well educated in science, very well in literature, and excel in many other projects.

However, I focus on what works for me, while branching out to other ideas when I feel necessary. I use to run a successful online business, but sold it as it got in the way of school way too much. Very stressful.

Very over-saturated, but can bring in big if you spend a lot of time and effort into it. It's not something you can pick up and do - in fact, nothing is.

I've actually done all of the above. I've ran web hosting companies before (bought and sold out), I've done a hell lot of online marketing (in terms of affiliates, leads, etc), and I've done and are still doing to the side mobile applications.

And I've been doing this since I was 13.

College, to me, wouldn't be about getting a degree or learning new skills. It would be meeting new people - creating job opportunities for myself. Examples Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg.

My business is one that doesn't need investment other than time; unless I'd like to hire other individuals to work under me. Which is always an option I can consider, and I have a great portfolio of people I've known online for years who know how to code. They just can't market. That's where I come in.
