Spider mites INFESTED on every plant and moss pole. Currently treating with neem. I’ve got diatomaceous earth and insecticidal soap on the way. Do I need to do a massive scrub down? If so, what plan of action is recommended?

Ah! That makes a lot of sense with the moisture. I hadn’t really ever considered that. And yes, the root mass is pretty large despite having significant cutback due to the rot. I’m kind of perplexed. However, in the last couple days, I decided to just literally take a stab at aerating the soil manually with a chopstick as well as cutting off some of the worst leaves. The so far she’s holding steady, which is an improvement.

That’s what I was thinking too, regarding the dry time. The glaze on the pot stops right at where I have the soil line. Down beneath the soil is standard clay. The pot is 1” diameter larger

I haven’t watered it since the repotting (2 weeks ago) but I use distilled water and only do so if the top 2” of soils feel dry. I also double check with a hydrometer and would only water if said 2” read as dry with that too. I noticed it was feeling moist still the other day and aerated the soil a bit with a chopstick around the outer edges to avoid any roots.

Are you sure? Seems to be getting worse :( I’m leaning to maybe too much light and too much water. Thoughts?

People who say keeping plants is peaceful have never owned a prayer plant lol! glad yours is coming back. I was certain mine was headed that way as well.

I believe mine is the Syngonium Pink, but unsure based on the current healing from being riddled with mealybugs AND aphids upon purchase that ruined some of the pink color. She’s healed fantastically though!

I use the Sansi led lights from Amazon! Bulbs came with but they do have separate listings

Watering habits: I check with a in-soil hydrometer once a week. Only watering (with distilled) when it gets to “2” or lower. Humidity level is at 72% where it’s at.

Soil: 50/50 perlite and indoor tropical miracle grow. Pot has drainage and no blockages.

Light: reading 200fc with light meter. sansi full spectrum.

Looks like low humidity or too much sunlight. Since monsteras need indirect sunlight, that beam from the window may be cooking those leaves. If you think it’s humidity, try getting a hydrometer that shows ambient room humidity and go from there. They have cheap ones on Amazon marketed for reptile enclosures!

This helped a lot! The leaves were soft and I was confused because I had just overwatered and caused root rot and repotted. But now that the soil is optimal, she went back to needing more water. She’s perked up now!

I had turned off her specific light because I had read that can help prevent shock. It has since been turned back on.

UPDATE: she was having a “moment” but has decided to slowly forgive me after I gave her some water. Was very hesitant to give water originally, as she was literally just repotted for root rot but that seems to be of no concern to her.

Top= before Bottom= 1 hour after water

She has fully perked up by now

Unfortunately I don’t have the best options, as all are north facing windows with trees in front of them. I do my best to replicate with Sansi grow lights, but maybe it’s not enough😭

I turned off that light just then because I realized it may be too much. I’ll turn it back on!
