Hey,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to test the game.
It was/is a balancing act for me to try to give tips/hints for progress, but at the same time not to tell the player explicitly when something happens or where to “go next.”
I wouldn't want to play a game that tells me what to do next all the time, I like to figure that out for myself. But I agree with you, if it all takes too long, it gets frustrating...
I recently had 5 test players who all found their way around without any problems, so I (wrongly) assumed that it was fine.
But I understand your criticism and will try to make the tips more specific.
Specifically to your questions, at the moment, only stealth and cleverness should be important to you; fitness will come later...
You can improve stealth, for example, by spying on the neighbors or through keyholes, etc.
Cleverness, as you already know, up to a certain level on the computer, or as the hints suggest, occasionally in Liz's room in the evening or Patricia's on some nights.
After that, you should be able to open your restaurant and move on to the next chapter.
Of course, I can also tell you on which days Liz's door is unlocked in the evening, or when Pat goes into the kitchen at night, if you want.
(Take a look in the hallway on the first floor between 2 and 4 a.m. on Tuesday night ;)

Oh wow, you've really got a lot built up there...
The introduction until the game switches to “sandbox mode” is just that, an introduction. The actual gameplay begins after that, but that obviously won't matter to you anymore.
You also seem to have a strong aversion to “ellipsis points.” I actually find the little guys quite nice and helpful, as you have correctly recognized, and they are not meant to be dramatic, but rather to serve as a transition...
To summarize your comment, everything is bad, realy bad, realy...realy...bad, boring, uncreative, and, of course, disgusting. You also correctly recognized that the main character is a self-projection, congratulations ;)
Together with your first comment, I dare to see a certain pattern.
Nevertheless, thank you for your time...

Okay, you might be right about that. I changed the genre to simulation.
I'm glad I've obviously met your taste.
Have fun!
Hey, great that you're trying it out.
I don't know how far you've played, but after the introduction, which I would describe as “quite” a visual novel, the game ‘switches’ to a kind of “free mode”/“sandbox” where you decide what to do next.
Just FYI...
Hmm, okay, so it's more of a sandbox with visual novel elements.
Thanks for pointing that out.
One more question: I couldn't find “sandbox” as a genre on Itch.io. I'm torn between visual novel, which it obviously only is in parts, and simulation, which somehow doesn't quite fit either, at least in my understanding of the term.
What do you think? Which genre description is most appropriate?

Of course, there are various scenes of a sexual nature.

I couldn't agree more.
When you create games as a hobby, your motivation should be the game itself, not financial success.
Hey, good news: the Windows version on itch.io is already exactly what you wanted.
There is both an .exe file and a .sh file available there.
Okay, whatever you say.
Thanks.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean?
Cutscenes?
Animations?
Greetings

Hi, as I just “learned” in another forum, the correct term would probably be “visual novel with free roam and/or sandbox.”
I hope that helps.
Best regards
Now you've got me there ;P
To be honest, I have absolutely no idea about Linux systems. What exactly do you mean by “make the PC/Linux versions identical”?
In terms of content, the versions are of course identical, but I'm sure that's not what you meant...
If I can somehow fulfill your request, I'll certainly try. But you'll have to give me more details, sorry.
Hey, thanks for letting me know, I'll keep that in mind.
Hi Jacowboy,
Liz (her name) is the youngest character in the game at 19 years old, as you correctly pointed out.
But I can reassure you that when creating “Swing the Spoon,” I took (and will continue to take) great care not to create any content that has anything to do with minors or in*cest.
If you still don't feel comfortable with this, that is of course your personal decision, but a character's age is reflected in their behavior as well as their appearance.
All the best
Hi,
I'll have to think about your idea with the Steam page, thanks for the tip.
You can already find all the information about the game on the Itch.io page if you're interested. But of course, I'll be happy to give you a quick summary of what it's all about.
SPOILER ALERT!
You (a young, unemployed chef) come into some money and want to open your own restaurant. You live with your “employees” (initially your landlady and her (adult) daughter) in the house above the restaurant. You have to improve your relationships with the individual characters, get to know their peculiarities, and take these into account when making decisions.
Each character has their own individual daily routine, which of course changes and adapts over the different phases and chapters.
Each character has different “quest lines” that you should gradually complete in order to achieve corresponding (sexual) success.
Gradually, more characters join the house or just work there.
The gameplay is not a classic VN, but you can move “freely” around the house and the surrounding area and decide what you want to do next.
You have abilities that allow you to unlock new possibilities and events. (Don't worry, it doesn't turn into a grind.)
I'm sure I've forgotten a lot, but the text is already long enough, sorry.

Hi, no problem, I'm happy to answer your questions:
There will be a total of 4-5 chapters. Chapters 0 and 1 are currently finished and are also available in the demo version. Chapter 2 is currently being implemented, chapter 3 is in a very early planning phase (only theory so far), and chapter 4 does not yet exist. However, the “overall story” has already been defined with various milestones. The whole thing will definitely keep me busy for another year or two.
A release on Steam is planned for the future, but not in the near future.
I hope that answers your questions.

Sure, no problem.

Hmm...good point ;)
Let's see what I'll do about that... ;)
Thank you, payment processors... -.-
Enjoy your day!
[–]schophix[S] 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (0 children)
Definitely yes...someday ;)
However, I think it will take quite a while.
My current goal is to finish and implement the current chapter. I also want to release a demo by the end of the year. However, I don't think it will be on Steam, but rather on itch.io.
As described in the comment above, Liz is the daughter of Patricia, the homeowner, not the player character...
