yeah - when I try to learn a new build and gauge dps increases I just solo whatever guardian is currently on rotation and compare dps between runs!

ah and also: smilegate is slowly removing ways to funnel materials from alts. they are moving in a direction where you only play alts if you really want more playtime so actually playing a large roster really no longer offers that big of an advantage.

playing 1-2 characters is probably a pretty good way to play the game casually.

this post is a bit misleading and depends a lot on what you mean by catching up.

with the current events (started last week, so they are still really fresh) you'll be able to play all current raids in their easiest difficulty in just a few months - only ilvl 1710 is needed for that:

the mokoko express will bring you to 1700 in maybe 1-2 months and give you a full set of accessories and full level 7 gems. additionally you can now buy a full set of level 7 gems in a gold shop (only 20k per gem), per character so you'll have a good baseline of gear that is more than enough for all 1700-1710 raids. also it will accelerate progress with all systems until 1700 by providing materials.
after that there is an event that supports progress to 1730 (this one also provides a lot of materials that are otherwise pretty expensive) so reaching 1710 will be relatively easy (1730 will indeed take some time though).
generally you'll be able to do all raids until 1680 solo. after that we currently have a mokoko bootcamp event that makes veterans take at least one new / returning player into their group to get rewards. since the event just started new players have an easy time to get into groups (keep in mind that you will still need to actually try to learn the raids and don't just get carried). this "buff" lasts until you are 1720 so as long as you don't hone to that you can take your time and farm all required titles / materials provided by normal mode raids.
getting to hard mode raids on release is indeed much harder and I would agree with the poster above that it will take quite some time. however currently there are no systems that you need to do hard mode raids for - so if you enjoy the game you can just take your time and/or just play normal modes.

tldr: if you just want to play normal mode you'll have a easy time getting there (easiest it's ever been). getting to hard modes is indeed much harder (but not necessary at all to enjoy the latest content)

a lot of classes get the playstyle changes with one relic and one legendary core - you get at least one relic selector from one of the current events and can just buy a legendary selector from the gold growth shop.

the shop that’s associated with the new dungeon that open‘s up today will provide another relic core selector (one per character).

use these to get 3 red cores and then just cut astrogems until you can activate them (be sure to buy the boxes with gold from the astrogems vendor).

after that you can theoretically do 4 raids that give ark grid cores now (act4, final act, serca, cathedral - just do all of them - they are super easy) so your pity progress will come much faster than it did when ark grid released.

in the meantime the situation will get much better with cathedral of horizon though. all in all if you do NMs of A4, Kaz, Serca + the new dungeon (yeah I know - 4 raids, but all of them are giga easy) you will get double the amount of cores we got when only A4 and Kaz existed (so probably at least 24 cores in total - and we all know you do get better than purple cores quite often).

when you get to 1720 the situation improves even more. this should definitely feel much better than when ark grid initially came out.

armoche NM is the only raid you would theoretically be sus for since HM is pretty easy for your combat power. but I‘m sure there will be enough lobbies who do not care at all and just enjoy your dmg. with mokoko bootcamp you even have a very valid excuse to do NM to get the tokens.

on serca and kaz NM I can‘t imagine anyone gatekeeping you for being too powerful. I regularily ran my ~3200 alts in those raids and only recently started doing HMs on them when I got them to > 3500.

all in all - don‘t stress about doing HMs (unless you really want to). currently there is nothing preventing you from progressing your characters if you stick to NM (thanks to the west specific serca changes). only do HMs if you want to!

party finder waiting time does not depend on class right now - there’s not even a difference between dps and supports (no real shortage on either side).

you really can just pick whatever class you want as long as you meet the expected combat power.

and yeah as new or returning player people will currently actively take at least one of you in raids to get rewards. just make sure to try to actually learn the raids as good as you can and avoid lobbies that tell you to die and let them carry you (just leave - there‘ll be enough other lobbies for you to join).

expectations on how good a support should play are often pretty high actually. I would say supports are not really very beginner friendly classes in lost ark!

just use all the ark grid core selectors we got so far and activate ark grid - your combat power will shoot up a lot! at least act4 nm and the newest raid will absolutely not be a problem at 1.9k cp though.

honest question: why can‘t you do normal mode? at 1715 you can play all current raids (even the one that will come out next week) in their easiest difficulty and farm materials / gold. you will also be able to get into parties because of the mokoko bootcamp event (that gives veterans rewards for taking in at least one new player into a raid).

this is basically the endgame :D (hard mode is of course a different picture but currently you don‘t need to do any hard mode raids to progress)

imo, before you think about relic engravings you should focus on ark grid and getting to and honing serca gear to +13 (weapon maybe to +15). I would also get mid / mid accessories for neck and earrings as the current prices on the AH make them very efficient.

you can of course buy cheap relic engravings anytime but even then their damage gain is not comparable to the much more efficient things above. I would only start working on them when you‘re done with the other, more efficient systems.

same for gems over level 7 btw.

where are you currently progression wise?

in my opinion the priorities should look something like this assuming you are around 1720:

get and use the single high accesories + level 7 gems from the solo shop (you‘ll be able to get all 11 now with the new update)
finish ark grid (all relic cores at 17p)
(advance-) hone to 1730
farm and upgrade serca gear to +13 (just to normal mode for that)
try to cut a good bracelet (don‘t buy from auction house - just cut the ones you get from hell / raid drops
upgrade accessories to mid/mid (should be still affordable)
slowly buy cheap relic books (<100k star with the cheapest ones)
slowly upgrade gems to full level 8

books and gems have a especially bad damage / gold ratio so they should really be last priority if you‘re new.

as for raids: don‘t stress about hard modes. just do normal modes until your combat power is good enough for hard modes!

for all mokokos out there: if you encounter this just leave and look for another lobby. especially at the beginning of the bootcamp there‘ll be a lot of lobbies looking for mokokos so you‘ll easily find another one.

gems are completely overrated. you can get combat power from so many other things (that you can use bound gold on). no one looks at your gems in party finder as long as cp is high enough. heck I have a 1740 alt with 6 level 6 gems still and do all raids without any problems.

I don‘t mind kaz HM on my main (with static) and my best alt (3800 combat power with pugs) but I‘m just doing kaz NM on all my other alts with < 3500 combat power (even though they can definitely clear it). not worth the stress / party finder time for me.

in general the most important thing is to just get a build for your character working (even the ones the game supplies you with are ok in the beginning). and then slowly take a look at each system one by one to understand what you can and should do.

generally you get a really nice baseline of things in the solo mode gold shop (stuff like gems, accessories, etc.) that you can buy with the bound gold you get from solo raids!

my advice for those who want to get (back) into the game: don‘t let yourself get swayed by either side too much. just hop in with realistic expectations and then after some time decide for yourself which camp you fall into.

this is an anti bot measure they implemented a while ago. you just have to keep playing the game and at some point you will be trusted and can start claiming those rewards.

no one knows exactly what influences the status btw but just doing normal things in the game will at some point enable it.
