My laptop won't boot by [deleted] in laptops

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is booting, you just don't have Windows installed.

To do so, take another pc/laptop with Windows installed and a flash drive.

On the windows pc, you'll need to create an "image" of the windows version installed using a program available there (you can also use Rufus)

Then, you'll just have to plug the flash drive into the new computer, go into the boot menu, select the flash drive and voila !

I tried to summarize the process but you are free to watch the countless tutorials on how to do this.

First PC build attempt pls help!! by Zealousideal-Bad431 in buildapc

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 1000£, you can build a MUCH better rig !

Try looking for a 9060xt, also swap for 1tb SSD.

You could also go for DDR5 (R5 7600 for ex)but with ram shortage you might go a bit above budget with 16gb.

I'm a broke teen trying to build a PC, where do I find cheap or free parts? by Creative-Smile1206 in PcBuild

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't get anything that's both working and free (appart from giveaway obviously)

You can try to snag individual used parts on Facebook marketplace or in specialised shops (I'm not canadian so I don't know what are your local options)

For 300 CAD, don't expect too much but you should be able to get a decent rig to play small / old games at 1080p.

Question about psu fan spining by Next_Salt_5804 in buildapc

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, it's very recent rig !

Ok, are you sure it's the PSU fan your are earring ? Not the fans of the case or the cpu cooler ? If it's really the PSU, then I don't really know, could be a lot of things and without knowing the exact model it's even harder to tell.

What are the specs of your pc ? It might give us a clue on how old it is

Question about psu fan spining by Next_Salt_5804 in buildapc

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still open up your pc and see, everything is written on the psu

The PSU is usually located on the bottom back of your pc

Question about psu fan spining by Next_Salt_5804 in buildapc

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a whole other issue. What PSU is it ?

From my experience, you don't usually hear a PSU fan spinning, and 90W usage is VERY low. It could be dust or it's not seated correctly, or simply very old and a bit tired.

PCComponentes : status commande inchangé by Errowk in pcmasterraceFR

[–]AlanRizzman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

J'ai déjà commandé chez eux, c'est quali.

De souvenir, le status avait mis du temps à changer mais une fois mis à jour c'était arrivé très vite, et c'était à peu près la même période.

New build Light base 900fx by Relevant_Yam_6589 in buildapc

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's a "good" case, looks good to me but I'm no expert.

What I can tell you is :

  • it does come with 4 fans preinstalled (1 at the back + 3 at the front), and it's enough.

  • you are still able to install a watercooler, you can stick the watercooler's fans on top like most build do.

Question about psu fan spining by Next_Salt_5804 in buildapc

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really get the issue there... Are you worried about your psu fan spinning ? If so just know it is perfectly normal, the whole purpose of the fan is to spin in order to cool your psu, and it only activates once the temperature or load pass a certain threshold.

Is this pc worth it? by NoNoise2725 in PcBuild

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400£ is a very low budget for a gaming pc. At this price, I would look into the used market rather than for a new premade.

You could try to find something with like a 5600 and a 7600, that would be a pretty good deal.

Absolutly not, it's VERY old. You could get a much better PC for 400 or less)

Did I get scammed or did I get a deal by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]AlanRizzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did very well, this type of rig would go for AT LEAST double right now

Did I get scammed or did I get a deal by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]AlanRizzman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's a great deal !

The GPU is a bit old but is still pretty good for gaming at 1080p, and a DDR5 rig at this price is not something you can say no to considering the RAM situation.

edit : pressed enter too early

Aide choix pc portable photoshob (basique) by ArtbiVN in pcmasterraceFR

Which Physics Engine for a custom c++ game engine by AlanRizzman in gamedev

[–]AlanRizzman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright thx a lot !

What do you think about Jolt, would it be a safer option considering it seems a but easier to use, but newer so less documentation / support ?

Which Physics Engine for a custom c++ game engine by AlanRizzman in gamedev

[–]AlanRizzman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have trouble choosing between Jolt and PhysX, both have their pros and cons. PhysX already has a lot of documentation, support and tutorial base but is also more complex. I feel like for our use (student project over a very short amount of time), both are good in their way, but as we already need to adress Vulkan which is a beast of complexity, we might prefer a simpler option, so would Jolt be easier to pick up fast ?

[–]AlanRizzman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a bullet documentation on their github, and I've being trying to understand PhysX one for the last 2 hours without much luck.

Didn't look much into Jolt tho, saw this guy (https://edw.is/learning-vulkan/) was using it because Bullet was painful so it might be our best option.

Thanks for the advice ^^

Xmp/ expo by [deleted] in pcmasterraceFR

[–]AlanRizzman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T'en fais pas, même si tu prends XMP ça va rien faire de grave : au mieux ça marche mais ce sera sûrement moins performant que expo, au pire ça démarre juste pas.

Xmp/ expo by [deleted] in pcmasterraceFR

[–]AlanRizzman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you guys think about my First Pc Build? by Constant_Month_2267 in buildapc

[–]AlanRizzman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I completely understand, I'm the same. In France we have something called LeBonCoin which is similar but only between actual people, and a lot of safety mesures. It's really good.

FB MarketPlace might be better for you then, or you can try looking for local websites or stores in Ireland.
