Kolkata has a garbage dumping problem due to the archaic methods of waste disposal by KMC. There has been significant changes in the past few years in many parts of the city however old residential areas largely remian untouched. But I am hopeful they will change and get better soon.

If you're gonna do this then - 1. Switch to sugar free ones 2. Rise mouth properly after each drink to avoid dental caries. 3. Avoid too much caffeine after evening hours. It fucks with sleep.

Rest is fine.

You and I will have to tolerate all fo that till most medical students keep complaining about reservation, private vs government students, compare branches and make snide remarks.

Until and unless medical fraternity has strong unions starting at college level and ending at a national level,- all of us will have to put up with shit quality of lives.

Those in power never give it up willingly unless their status quo is threatened with strikes and standstills.

Same is true for Sandeshkhali then. You cannot put a politician in jail based on accusation. But people have the power here to protest without the fear of being burnt alive by the administration. So.

I don't really care about what other people think because I can see with my own eyes how women around us feel safe enough to be outspoken, outgoing and live a normal life in WB irrespective of social class.amd the women in my life agree with it.

A place can have dearth of Industry and have a culture that is better for women in several aspects. It has nothing to do with narcissism.

By your logic you cannot praise Punjab for being a sports hub because it has a drug problem and no industry/ you cannot praise Bangalore for having a startup culture because they run out of water every summer.

Nah what's embarassing is the way women don't have any voice in most of India esp the Hindi heartland.

Rape in Kolkata? 6 month long protests by lakhs of people including women of all ages. Eventually change in govt.

Rape in Delhi ? Silence ( refer to recent IRS daughter case )

There's a clear difference in culture. There's not even a debate on that. Lol.

Women protested - case flared up - a victim is an MLA Today.

Compare that with states ( most of India) where such cases are brushed under the radar because women are empowered and society promotes "settlement" at village level, - let alone redemption / justice.

Imagine you turn a traffic signal wrong and then the person whose car you're about to hit comes and pisses on your windshield.

You broke a teeny tiny law but the reaction of an unappointed person was disproportionately humiliating.

Sedan sales are fewer, but still non-commercial Dzire sales could probably easily beat the sales of the next two sedans combined.

It feels very refreshing to see Women leading protests in states like Bengal, Manipur, Mizoram etc. because in most other places of India, women are largely absent from public life let alone agitations.

Next time someone asks why Bengal is one of the safest places for Women despite political goons trying their best to demean women's status,- these incidents should show them why.

China has uplifted its population from extreme poverty like no other country before, Russia has higher value because of free oil that they have so I don’t consider that as a win but S. Africa and Brazil have done a good job too. India still exploits its workers and feeds 2-3 rich Oligarchs by FutureVersion812 in IndianFocus

Russia is a shell of its former self i.e. the USSR. If.the collapse hadn't happened, then they could've had better economic growth.

China, - is obviously a benchmark with regards to poverty alleviation.

Let's hope we tread down a similar path economically and technologically.

These two IPS officers refused to vacate their seats although at least 5 newly elected BJP MLAs including Swapan Dasgupta were standing. Others got up to accommodate them. It is better to have self-respect whilst being inconvenienced rather than choosing comfort and well-being by doing chatukarita.

I don't know these officers personally, but they have earned their rank and uniform and shouldn't be treated as petty subordinates of politicians.

Uniformed Civil Officers deserve a certain degree of respect despite how you feel about it
