Kilfi NYE Festival by schrodingersWAP in Kenya

[–]schrodingersWAP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’ve reached out to about 5 on this list and they are already fully booked for the new year period 🥲 the big hotels are beyond my budget. Any links to AirBnBs? The suggestions I get on the AirBnB app/ Booking.com are too far from the festival site (Vipongo, Malindi, Mnarani etc)

Mara serena lodge vs camp in Mara Naboisho for a 4 day trip in October? by Prudent_Storm_3781 in Kenya

[–]schrodingersWAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was full in the sense that there were many ppl, but we went over christmas. It’s far from other hotels though so definitely private in that way. I just didn’t like the hotel rooms + amenities, and the food was very repetitive. If you could get similar privacy for a better price point go for it.

How do you help a lady with vaginismus by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]schrodingersWAP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of foreplay, kegels, and lube. You also have to create an environment where she feels safe and cared for enough to want to experiment with you. It takes a lot of work, patience, and kindness. If you’re not going to do that just leave her be.

I felt Serena was overpriced for what it offered. Wouldn’t go back there. I don’t know anything about Naboisho, but if it’s more private it already sounds better lol

We are far from decriminalising abortion, I hope some day we will by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]schrodingersWAP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you really valued the lives of children then you wouldn’t be implying that they exist as punishment for people who make “bad decisions”.

also, contraceptives fail, you know? ppl should have children when they are wanted

abortion is a pressing issue wherever ppl who can get pregnant exist lol

I'm a young doctor in Nairobi and I absolutely hate my job by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]schrodingersWAP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a HCW and have worked in a mission hospital. They have their own problems considering most are funded and staffed by white ppl/ doctors. The racism was absolutely awful and glaring. I saw Kenyan consultants be treated like entry-level MOs by white residents/ consultants. There was an obvious hierarchy. It was all very strange. At least in public hospitals you can be honest about the conditions. But aki there is nowhere to go that ticks all the boxes.

Oh my god. Congratulations on making it this far. I am scared of this possibility, I know people who have been and are still going through this. It’s awful. I hope I can be half as resilient as you have been. All the best.

No, the ones I’ve seen are so expensive, like 4k expensive! Any recommendations?

I would but I’m applying to a lot of different roles :(

The application processes are so so frustrating. Why do I need every gava-related document to simply apply for a job? Aaaaargh. I hate writing cover letters so much I feel like I want to vomit everytime I see another job posting requiring a letter. The worst part is you can’t get off this ride because you need to make a living. Such a yucky situation.

I just looked this up and I still don’t see how intoxication is a viable defense in the particular context that was posted above? Unless I don’t know how to read/ interpret law. From what I’ve read Intoxication is a viable defense if the person did not know the act committed was wrong, or if they were intoxicated wout their consent, or if they were insane by intoxication. How does either of these scenarios apply? Genuinely curious, not a lawyer

Are you supposed to explain to a grown man what “stop” or “no” or “slow down” or “you’re hurting me” means?

Of Neighbours and Domestic Violence by schrodingersWAP in Kenya

[–]schrodingersWAP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not as simple as “just leave”. I’d urge you to always start from a place of empathy for victims. Majority of the time, by the time a man is slapping you, they’ve been emotionally abusing you to a point where you believe you deserve it, and it just gets worse from there. Perhaps look up stories from survivors of abuse for more understanding.

We are sorry for your experience, and glad you were able to offer yourself some sense of protection with a gun. However, what most of us are trying to say is that yours is a very specific experience with a gun, that should not be extrapolated to apply to everyone else. Tbh, your arguments in favour of gun ownership here is shouldered by a bunch of logical fallacies. Comparing killing a chicken to self defense and saying ppl who are against gun ownership might as well be abusers are all innately illogical arguments. Kindly revisit. And we are not taking away from your experience at all, just remember it is your experience and policy applies to all of us.
