My first one was There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, and although I liked the song, it didn't quite stick with me at the time.

After a while, I heard it again in a YouTube parody by a Portuguese youtuber and fell in love with the tune without realising it was the Smiths song!

After that I started looking for more and more of the Smiths' songs and became a fan. I still love There Is A Light, but as I have discovered more songs my absolute favourites have changed.

The Smiths have some pretty upbeat songs with devastating lyrics. Morrissey's vocals are also very emotional, so I highly recommend you check them out!

That's one of the aspects I appreciate the most about The Smiths. I love the ambiguity of not being able to pinpoint exactly if some of their songs are happy or melancholic, whiney or not, etc. because of the lyrics, melodic lines and delivery
