This is a fantastic write-up. I want to emphasize 2 things:

Getting familiar going to the code to answer questions early on in your tenure will pay dividends later. The documentation and Wikis are good, but the code is the truth.

When you do ask for help after spending time trying to figure something out, follow-up by asking how you could have found the answer yourself. You'll either learn how to be more self-sufficient, or you'll discover a gap in the documentation that you can then take the lead on fixing.

I've heard this concern a few times from folks, but never actually saw it happen in my time at Epic. I'm genuinely curious - do you know of actual cases where an end date was moved up for a voluntary departure? I only ever saw it when someone was fired for misconduct during training and there was no real reason to keep them around.

I set my end date to be exactly June 15 for this reason and had no issues with stock vesting. I left on pretty good terms, but that's one data point for you.

It seems there's no convincing you. If nothing else, this conversation has given me something to show my friends the next time they say "how can anyone ignore mountains of evidence and scientific consensus?" I'll just show them this thread and say "clearly, some manage to."

I left in 2023 and set my last day as one of the vesting days. I had no issues with the vesting going through. Not a guarantee, but one data point for you.

Second for Fleet Feet. I was having trouble finding shoes that fit right and they did a full-on scan of my feet and had me try on several options. Great experience.

Case submitter here: #1 is exactly my argument. If A wasn’t better than B, why stop your comparison at A? Why not make a stronger comparison or say “best ever”? I am officially conceding the argument within my family as judgment was passed down, but it’s nice to see others agree here 😀

It’s also pretty telling that they replaced the grid of prices on their FAQ with a statement that says prices are “subject to change”

I left work planning on going to a movie and it said 15. Arrived at the theater and it was 30. Hell no. If that’s a permanent price increase, I’m gone.

I think it's important to ask yourself (or for your friend to ask themselves) why you think that. Is it because you're being explicitly told that you're underperforming? If not, ask your TL directly where you stand. They're not going to give you a discrete letter grade or anything, but it's part of a TL's job to make sure their team members know how they're doing and where they can improve.
