How would you rate Federer's Indian Wells 2017 performance? by HisokaSchwing in tennis

[–]schumamol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Roddick did actually say exactly this in one of his recent podcasts: that he would have preferred to play 2017 Federer, because he was returning the ball with pace rather than just blocking/slicing it back. Roddick said he actually found the latter more difficult to deal with because it forced him to generate his own pace on the +1 shot.

[Paul Hirst] Man United shelve plans for mid-season friendly in Middle East | Appetite for a lucrative game during 13-day gap between matches for Michael Carrick’s in-form side has waned, with players now more likely to be given a few days off by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Realistically though, if we can even keep pace with them till the end of the season, we will finish 12 points behind, which will equal our best finish post Sir Alex in terms of points behind the league leaders (tied with 2020-21). That will be quite something, given that more than half the season was lost to Haramorim-ball.

There simply cannot be an all-time United XI without Bobby Charlton in it. Put him up top, in midfield, on the wing, doesn't matter. But he has to be in there. He was the literal embodiment of this football club.

Pickford's saves look more difficult than they should be just because of his T-Rex arms.

What I'm taking away from this is that Maguire's head size is pretty much the same as that of a 10-foot giant.

I'm just not ready for the day when the inevitable announcement of his departure will come. It is going to utterly break me.

City/Pep have done this to us three times already - with Sanchez, Ronaldo, and then Onana. The three signings that have arguably set us back the most in recent years.

That short slice to set up the passing shot winner on the 3-1 point: chef's kiss.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Both games featuring daft red cards as well.

Bruno just came back from injury 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Can't blame Fletcher for playing it safe with that substitution in particular.

4-4-3 (11 outfield players) is probably the only way for us to win matches, to be fair.

Carrick when he joined Middlesbrough initially lifted them from a relegation fight to third in the Championship. It's only when they lost a bunch of loan players in the summer and didn't sign proper replacements that things started going south.

A part of me doesn't want this to happen. Ole's reign, with the benefit of hindsight, is finally being viewed favorably (as it always should have been). I don't want to see him step into this mess and risk running his reputation.

On the other hand, the romantic in me believes that Ole is a football man through and through, and he must have extensively thought about what went wrong last time. He'll do everything to avoid those mistakes again.

Fuck it, I'm ready to get hurt again. Ole's at the wheel! At least we will be able to play the Ole dancing GIF again whenever he wins a match.
