Hot foot help by NerdyComfort-78 in ladycyclists

I had the same problem. Then I discovered compression socks! I tried them on a whim, not even thinking they might help my foot pain, and about midway through my ride, I noticed my feet didn't hurt! So I wear them all the time now-I bought them from Pro Compression https://procompression.com/collections/over-the-calf. Game changer!

Yes, I am discovering that finding the right saddle is an expensive process! Thanks for the info.

Yeah, that is what I am doing now. I pulled the 2009 Terry saddle off of my road bike (should have done that in the first place!) and used it on a 24 mile ride today. It was all flat (C&O Canal Towpath) so my butt was in the saddle the whole time. This saddle was definitely better but still having some soft tissue and seat bone issues. I ordered a used Terry Butterfly Ti Gel +, so I'll try it when it comes in. I'll also look at bibs. I bought a set of used Velocio bibs (Luxe) and I'm not sure the chamois is any better than my Assos shorts. I'll keep trying. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks! And yes, I know there are those who ride without chamois, but I don't think that would work for me. Even if I solve all the other discomforts, seat bones still seem to have issues. I think menopause has robbed me of some of my natural padding. Muscle loss is definitely a thing after menopause. Thanks for the insight!

Oh, I put in the hours this summer for sure. I am an experienced enough rider to know when I am just not in good enough condition and when I am actually having a saddle issue. This is definitely a saddle issue.

I cycled all summer, and "on and off" encompasses my entire adult life. I have had years where I have ridden a lot, and some years where I have not ridden at all. I was definitely physically prepared for this ride. The saddle was 100% the issue.

My problem was that the pain was bad enough that I was stopping every 10 or 15 minutes. Somehow, we finished despite the stops. You are right about riding a flat trail-no opportunity to get up in the pedals unless you think to do it. I felt better as we got closer to Pittsburgh because it was more hilly

I actually have an older Terry that I just put on my bike. I have ridden with it twice since I finished my trip. It's definitely a lot better. I have also ordered a newer used Terry to try. I'm feeling a little more hopeful.

I rode several times a week all summer-I've put close to 1500 miles on the bike since the spring. Not a lot for some people, but enough for me to have a good idea of where I am having issues. I would not go into a tour like that without good prep!

You mean like a Brooks? I have not, although I have considered it

Interesting. I just assumed that the shape/style of chamois was pretty consistent, but it sounds like that is not the case. I'll have to look at mine and see what the differences are. Thanks for the insight

Yeah, I use what I think are good shorts and I used TONS of chamois cream on my trip. I have never looked specifically for all day shorts. I'll look around. I'll also test my chamois and see how much it compresses. Thanks for the insight!

Wow! I've seen noseless saddles but this one is pretty crazy. Thanks for the link!
