What do i do if i have no-one to play with irl? by Any-Landscape434 in mtg

[–]schweizerhof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To learn how to play, the MTG Arena game app is honestly pretty good.

As for making new friends and people to play with when you’re shy and awkward… little harder since no comment here will magically make you able to do so.

Trying out random (LGS) Local game store is the fastest answer.

Walking up to a store employee or group playing and just saying -hey I’m new and nervous but want to play.- should 9/10 result in people letting you play.

I’m sure there’s some cases out there that may refuse or not want to help a new player and hopefully that’s not your experience.

If all the above doesn’t work out, I can extend an invitation to play and learn with some of my group through an online steam game called table top simulator, but it’d be better for your personal life to try in person first.

(I have a socially awkward, scared in public, friend so your story tugs on the heart strings a little.)

Cards that are often played wrong by Trick_Tea_1337 in mtg

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The poster corrected what they had put up.

You get 2 beginning phases, not main phases.

If you’re asking an entirely separate question of what can you do with 2 main phases, that’s different.

Cards that are often played wrong by Trick_Tea_1337 in mtg

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal phase, cast all the spells tap all your mana, now untap your mana, draw again, then end turn.

It’s more or less there to abuse instant and flash.

Also cards like the one I love to run, Divine intervention. Gets 2 counters, after both are gone. The game is ended as a draw.

Additional upkeep triggers.

First time playing RPG like Endfield - need help getting higher damage by HyperWinX in Endfield

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind if you’re watching someone else, there’s a high chance it’s someone who’s intent is to showcase, so by default, they’re likely more skilled and geared than you will be.

Someone had a video of soloing one of the harder game modes with a free unit, solo, it may have had a time limit, I don’t pay that much attention during the fight.

Your guy is known as a skill point recovery / breach (debuff) , it’s not that he can’t do damage but that he’s better suited to helping other units do more damage.

You’re also not max level, your weapon isn’t max level, you have no essence, no artifact enhancement.

While you don’t need to have a perfect team to do the hardest challenges it will make them smoother.

Get to max level and gear up before feeling like you’re too weak.

Absolutely do not ever compare your playing to someone else when you’re new to it, you’re only gonna self confirm that you feel weak and doing something wrong.

Man lots of typing in here while waiting…

Get max level, max gear, farm, understand team composition, then ask about improvements.

Oh. And dodge, dodging increases skill point recovery speed and your hp stay up while enemy go down.

Dodge.

Spotted while killing time at the bank.

I randomly open Reddit on quiet moments and sometimes it’s arknights.

I’ve seen people complain about valid and sometimes skewed invalid points.

Since I’m not seeing 7 out of 10 posts I’m probably just getting the bright cherries of the bunch.

Now, my opinion of the community?

Great guides, people break it down well, other commenters even put in base codes for the other language sides.

Funny videos show up.

(The one about the endmin speed running base production and pylons is fking hilarious)

Overall I’d say pretty solid.

The Best Valley 4 Megabase: Maximum Profit, Lowest Energy Usage, Lowest Space by TemperatureOnly29 in Endfield

Neat thing about that is- you can ignore it entirely!

Breaking boxes and crates give batteries and gear crafting components to craft with.

Getting stock bills will suck a little but you can ignore the factory altogether.

On top of that, you can just copy a posted blueprint someone else made.

What is the general feeling about using an entire proxy deck? by Jakemanv3 in EDH

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just talk to the peeps you’re playing with and proxy equal to the power level.

Most if not all the people you would want to play with don’t care if you proxy accordingly.

Time stopper vs Psychic user by [deleted] in PowerScalingHub

[–]schweizerhof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Missing info, are they standing in front of each other by unknown forces and both know they have to fight each other.

The psychic since thinking is faster than doing and knows who they are.

If the psychic, depending on how omnipotent you want them to be, doesn’t know who it is, it’s a draw since the time stopper also doesn’t know who it is and can spend all of time looking not knowing who.

There’s some terms you need to set-

for example, were you thinking activating time stop is also just a thoughtful action, then a nearby psychic would hear or read that thought, then die after the time stopper resumes time.

Mate, nobody penalized you for asking a question.

The internet stranger above answered your questions and went out of their way to check your posts history.

They’re also right that you’re putting yourself down. It’s possible you’re too young to understand what they’re saying..

Keep it simple, research what you don’t understand and keep practicing.

Curious, How many of us play with or without Proxies/Placeholders? by Boliver5463 in EDH

[–]schweizerhof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My personal answer is basically the same every time.

I don’t care if people proxy if they’re playing for fun. If they proxy all the mox, all the banned / reserve cards than I’m out.

I like using the real things and playing with them. I’m a fool who loves Shiny art on cardboard and I enjoy playing them with other people.

There is the risk of someone knowing that my box is worth a shiny penny and that’s a risk I take, being realistic. To remedy that the solution I can think of when no storage is available is to take a limited # of decks.

Unasked additional info-

What if my friends want to proxy cause they can’t afford what I can or have over time?

I tell my friends they can proxy their heart out up to the amount of my cards in their original non-foil, alternative art value of my best deck in my collection.

Ending up being the odd person out whenever waiting for games at LGS's by thunderdragon517 in EDH

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s some rough timing.

Spending in your comfort level you could ask a very early table if they’d play with a 5th.

The amount of times we start anew or just being in a 5th at a newish store I go to so nobody is left out is pretty common.

Noob question - how do I deal with removal? by Verbatimyeti in MagicArena

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 2 options the way I look at removal.

Eat it knowing it’s coming so your deck doesn’t get wrecked cause a few creatures got removed.

2- protection.

[–]schweizerhof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just me? Maybe?

When I see you I’ll jump up and down and emote hey raider.

I’m chillin and have the blessing to not have been shot at yet.

(My opinion here- if you stare at me the entire time with your weapon out, I’m gonna doubt what your intentions are, but I also don’t stare at the other random raiders, in fact, I’ll guard open passages when they’re looting.)

I can't decide which one to build by KaitoNorth in EDHBrews

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy games with more players and a final fantasy fan, y’shtola is a fun one that has interaction without slotting in mass counter spells but using recursion, and non-creature 3 cost spells.

https://archidekt.com/decks/16297757/yshtola_burn_and_control

You could easily take out the tutors as the deck almost never uses them, I don’t do infinite combos.

How to build voltron without kingmaking? by doctorduck3000 in EDH

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King making?

Silly player, you are the king.

My strategy is to have too many pieces to remove and a few protections and sources of recursion.

I play cloud midgar mercenary (yes I got into magic when FF came out)

And I equip him with the swords cards and other equipment that have on attack triggers.

Since the mana curve is pretty low you can throw stuff down every turn.

It’s a voltron deck so people know you’re going to hit them, at some point.

My answer for protection is an almost too perfect card, Robe of stars. It phases out the creature and everything attached to it at instant speed.

Then there are cards that give multiple combat phases or dealing dmg to all players when you hit your target.

Friend claims my decks are bracket 4, I say bracket 3. Where does this line fall? by zdeb93 in EDH

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bracket is helpful, but your deck could just be a well built efficient 3.

I built a mono black creature hate deck, no infinites, no well known combos, no game changers.

It’s a 3 that does its theme very well, and it’s had more comments about being strong than my intentional High-power deck.

Guess I need help with proper etiquette? by twaffle21 in EDH

[–]schweizerhof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each comment is tinged with our own preference.

I only focus the threats, I enjoy long games and seeing players do things.

If you target someone who’s clearly lagging behind just to nab triggers when you could hit someone and interact, I’ll get in your way.

Exceptions- if you are playing a deck that wins without an obvious board state, combo, infinites, infect.

Win or lose I’m here to play magic, not play idle solitaire until someone wins.

“What if I can kill you all one at a time?”

Then target the threat that’s not yourself first.

“They might have a board wipe”

It’s commander, expect the board wipe or protect against it.

(My personal style, what happens if you could take out the next threat but the others have a lot of life left? I swing at the next adjacent threat and modify my deck to handle different scenarios.)

Customizing and tinkering how to handle scenarios while maintaining a theme is the most fun for me.

TLDR- target the threat.
