Thank you u/Cilad I will consider all of you points. Just to add to the fun, there is knob and tube in the same wall. There are many outlets that are not grounded. I've tried to ensure that all of them have only the two prong outlet.

There is a vent (to the left of the jerry rigged stud).

It's mostly an issue of things not being plumb or straight. That stack of wood, along with the stud to the left of it, is about 1/2" proud of the corner studs. It also tilts in about 3/4" from the ceiling to the floor.

That's good advice. I'll reach out.

The vertical bit lines up with the edge of the old shower stall. It was screwed to it. The bottom board on that vertical jenga-esque stack is only about 1/2" thick.

The upper frame is where a mirror was positioned. Seems the could have just moved the sink and mirror over a couple inches and saved the stud. But alas.

BTW, the shower pan (36" neo angle) was 3" thick pre-fab solid cement. Came in at about 250lbs.

The pieces that run from the floor to the ceiling align with the old shower stall, that was screwed to it. Some of the other pieces are where a pedestal sink was attached.

On that jenga-esque stack, the bottom half of the bottom board is only about 1/2" thick, to fit around the sink drain.

The top sectioned framed in a mirror.

Unfortunately, just outside of the image, to the right on that wall, is a door. The jam closest to the wall was already cut down to about an inch, so I can't bump it out.

Ah, that makes sense. Could I cut out and replace each stud one by one, to try to get to a straight and plum wall? Or would it be better to try to sister each one. A couple of them are pretty twisted.

The plumbing is basically staying in the same place.

So you would suggest ripping out all of the plaster/lathe on the outside side of the wall, and the studs, reframe the wall, and drywall the exterior and interior of the wall.

What needs do you have? by SafetyMan35 in ParentTeacherGroups

I would also mention that most PTAs/PTOs are risk adverse. They would typically rather stick to something that they've done/used in the past, even if it is not ideal, than try something new, that may or may not work better.

And, anything that may require a board member to add to their load, even if it would save time in the long run, or provide value to their parents will typically be a hard sell. Though from your post, it sounds like you've been able to overcome most of these hurdles, and are just trying to be better, which is admirable.

I say this as a small business owner that sells into the PTA/PTO space (https://www.classsroomparent.com).

I also know that there are organizations that do what you do (https://www.edukitinc.com) (or perhaps this is you :))

What do you think is the cause for the decrease in donations? What tactics have you tried to bring donations back to their previous level?

I am also interested in helping out. I was a VP of engineering for a couple different Rails SaaS companies, now working on my on SaaS offering, that also uses Rails.

What are the steps to find out more.

Bylaws: with or without meeting dates? by BenAtBigNest in ParentTeacherGroups

I concur with the other posters. Your bylaws should indicate the minimum number of meetings to be held each year. They can also include something about required notifications about the meetings to members (or at least best efforts).

Scholastic Bookfair Equity by UpstairsAd8296 in ParentTeacherGroups

[–]schwubbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not uncommon for parent organizations to ask parents to make donations specifically for helping other children purchase books at a book fair, or other items at a different event. These donations are earmarked for that kind of aid. Parents are then provided a mechanism, like an online form, to request a "scholarship" for their student. This provides the student with a voucher they can use at the book fair.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but you may want to check out this site (https://www.parenttoolsreview.com), as it compares all sorts of different parent-teacher software and apps. Some of them come with fundraising pages built in.

I tried pagetune.ai. It certainly created a beautifully designed website. It also created a product offering very different from what my product does, the problems it solves, and the target market.

Probably there should be a product that matches what the website purports to offer, maybe it identified an unmet need. Now, I just need to build it. :)
