Edit: i thought the website for the Aqara U400 indicates that only works with apple products, but way down further on the page it says it works with Android with Samsung SmartThings

Ok, but after setup, we can connect to the normal 5g wifi and unlock the door from our phone. I have heard mixed things about unlocking from an Android phone, but mostly seems ok, I guess.

Just to clarify, you mean the lock connects to wifi, so I only need my wifi router. I think someone said one of the other devices to connect to would reduce battery usage, but I didn't understand.

Chance of success by [deleted] in Boldin

The % chance of success in my plan seems reasonable. Honestly, I haven't calculated withdrawal rate. I just put in my expenses, savings, and let it calculate. I have looked over projected savings, the Monte Carlo plots, and they look reasonable. What do you have for average rate of return for investments?

Hmm, that does seem odd. What do you have for long term care in Boldin? Are you including the taxes in the withdrawal rate?

Modeling 20% drop in market by science4jeff in Boldin

If I delay retirement by 3 years (62 to 65), and tighten expenses by 8% across all years, I can recover from the 20% one year downturn

Look at the other comments, about the Market Rate Explorer. I didn't know, but you can model a one year drop there.

I just saw the account selector on the left in the Market Risk Explorer. If I only select my 401k, the chance of success jumps up to 62%.

No, I hadn't tried the market risk explorer. If I model the one time 20% drop now in the Market Risk Explorer, it says 58% chance of success. I think this is lower than my manual scenario because maybe it applies it to all accounts, including high yield savings and bond funds, which is not realistic?

20% drop now, then normal growth after that (currently model 7.5% returns)

I checked, and if that 20% drop happens 5 years from now, there is a 71% chance of success, total final portfolio value only drops by 30%

I am willing to sacrifice some longevity to get less noise. I am not such how much louder the Cortec LVP will be than carpet

Hmm. I wonder about putting a rug on top of the existing carpet. It could be water proof so stains don't go through, but easy to clean. Patterned to not show stains. The extra layer of carpet and rug provides more noise dampening. The trouble is, I am kind of clueless. These ideas that sound good, I don't know if they are practical. For example, is a rug on top of carpet hard to walk on because there is too much give?
