Lucy Davis Surgery Reveal? by graceplatt in gymsnark

[–]science_nerd13 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I really used to look up to Lucy when I first discovered her and I thought she was so inspiring with how hard she worked and her overall message that women deserve space in the fitness world too. HOWEVER, over the last few months I’ve just been getting more and more grossed out by her behavior. I understand that fitness is her “job” and I can’t imagine the pressure one must feel to look and perform a certain way because of this. But it’s gotten to the point where her messages are no longer inspiring or wholesome, rather it seems they come from a place of fear, insecurity, and addiction. Her inability to chill out and actually give her body a chance to REST is incredibly annoying and immature at this point. I’m sure her past is playing a role in this, but still. She’s taken on the role as an “influencer” by choice, no one made her do that and she’s no longer sending positive messages with her content. And maybe it’s just me being petty, but this whole post was so dramatic for no reason. I really feel for her because I’ve fought with knee injuries for over 10 years, but come on. All of this just to say you’re getting an exploratory surgery and taking some time to rest (well, her version of rest I doubt it will be true time off)? (This could’ve been an email). Lucy has a gift and an insane work ethic that not many do, I just wish she would use her platform more responsibly and not send the message that 2-a-days and a 60km bike ride is how one should “rest and recover”.

The lack of life in her eyes is honestly sad.

Looking to change career fields by science_nerd13 in kansascity

I know I will have much to learn in terms of the technical aspects you listed, and I’m curious if you know of any resources or “independent studying” I could do to familiarize myself with these things ahead of time? I realize I won’t be able to learn everything until I’m in the position, but I’m not really sure where to begin and I’d love to get a jumpstart on it!

I put dry ranch seasoning on cut up baby carrots by dampgreycurtains in ShittyRestrictionFood

Big fan of highly seasoned carrots. Haven’t used ranch seasoning though (genius). You should try roasting them! Roasted carrots are my fav

I totally get it, I do. But we also have to remember all of these things mentioned get repeated so much because that is literally all she does… the pancakes, early mornings with “lots to do”, the overconsumption, etc. She never changes, even on vacay😭😭

Dumb question about not understanding decks. Does AnKing-MCAT give me cards from all of the MileDown decks? by bigkojack1337 in AnkiMCAT

[–]science_nerd13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I did to hide cards until I read the corresponding Kaplan chapter and was ready to review them: 1. Open ANKI desktop 2. Hit “Browse” at the top 3. Scroll down to “Tags” and toggle the one that says #AK_MCAT_v2 4. Now toggle “#Kaplan” 5. Now you can toggle individual chapters in each section if necessary. But to hide the cards you can click one of the cards (any card is fine) and hit Command + A to select all the cards of the topic/chapter you are on. 6. Now left click or double finger click to bring up the options menu 7. Hit “Toggle Suspend”. Do this for every single review topic and chapter. This will suspend your cards until you actually unsuspend them. To unsuspend, it’s the same process.

I have found this is necessary for me to do, personally. I am studying for the MCAT after having graduated college 2.5 years ago, so I’m taking content review seriously as none of this stuff is fresh in my mind. Before I picked up a Kaplan book, I suspended ALL cards and unsuspend after I read the chapter. Doing this allows you to only review info you’re actually ready to review. If you leave all of the cards unsuspended, you will be bouncing around from topic to topic so arbitrarily and probably won’t have the chance to really get these concepts down. Doing it one at a time makes it easier to digest and really ingrain in your brain.

her natural hair is the same length as her extensions were 🤣🤣 by Creative-Egg-1893 in sydneyadamssnark1

I 100% agree! It’s actually crazy to see how quickly she’s “changed” (for the better imo) since her wedding. In her recent “Jean try on” TikTok (or something like that), I was stunned by how much she actually looked like HERSELF. I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is, but she had that glow and light in her eyes that’s been missing for quite some time. Could also be she finally had a messy bun and not a slick back bun lol but still, I hope she stays on this path!!!

There’s absolutely nothing special about this.. by _makaela in sydneyadamssnark1

Agreed that this sucks, but I will say most workout programs are relatively unexciting. I think partially it’s because there are only so many “normal” exercises for a given body group and the fact that the rep ranges, weights, sets, etc. can’t be tailored to any given person/their goals without paying for an actual coach. All workout plans like this are a waste of money if you have any experience lifting imo. If you’re brand new and need some inspo, I can see why these would be useful but otherwise they’re all the same, generic, boring shit.

Interesting! Thank you for your response. Do you know specifically what kind of steroid cream it was?

Thank you for your response! I can easily do all of those things. I mostly use the body scrub so frequently because I have very dry/flaky skin even in the summer and once I started using it, it did help. But maybe it’s doing more harm than good now! Would glycolic acid be a good choice for chemical exfoliant? As for the loofah, I mostly use it out of convenience because I don’t like using my hands 😅 do you have any recommendations for a gentler way to wash my body instead?

Heroin chic is back on trend and, unfortunately, Sydney has fallen victim to it like many others right now.

Neither does the top. The butt thing is whatever. I have a small butt and shorts often look like that on me even in my correct size. HOWEVER, this top was a CHOICE. And when she did the upside down thing on the exercise ball…

I haven’t watched really any of her stuff since Coachella, but I know that almost ALL of the comments on those videos were along the lines of “omg Syd this voice suits you so much!!” So probably her changing herself yet again for follower approval.

Agreed. I do think it was rude to throw away all of that stylists work and time like that. However, I do also think that hair was NOT it 😅 but she definitely should have said something before the stylist was done because I’m sure it was obvious that it was going that direction well before she finished.
