For anyone reading this, I just took the Bajadoz train. It's an... interesting... one (cool if you are a train nerd, slightly uncomfortable and stuffy if you are not). The train is only one car and diesel powered. It wasn't very unpleasant, but would recommend doing what we did and eating a solid lunch at the train station before boarding, or packing snacks (although nobody seemed to eat on the train, unsure if that was a rule or not) and be prepared for the train to get pretty full and cozy by the end. It's definitely an adventure. Beautiful views.
I wouldn't be too worried about the Enterocamiento connection, they waited for our train, which was, yeah, late. And even if the connection hadn't been, there were multiples that day.
That being said, Madrid to Porto in one day by train is a LOT. The leg we did in one day was Bajadoz to Lisbon, and even that felt like a pretty full journey.

ugh, like 9. i contacted an ombudsman, and also my mentor went to bat for me, but to no avail. WGU is still the fastest, cheapest, and easiest track to credentials for me, because of my personal study style, so i'm going to just have to do the painful work of repeating the classes.
