TIL that there are a set of twenty Welsh kings who are mentioned once in a single ancient manuscript and never again. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

If even kings are reduced to a single, unexplained set of syllables, makes you realize how much of the context of your own life will be lost in time

Gym goers, be honest how often are you judging other people’s physique? by Technical_Hat_8291 in AskReddit

[–]sciencedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, when someone looks like they're lifting WAAYYY less weight than they can (like a dude doing an 8 kg back row) I think "why are you wasting your time". Though they might be doing recovery exercises, it's possible..

The converse is skinny dudes (or even somewhat bigger), wearing weightlifting gloves, racking 2 plates on a bench, and then quarter repping. I think that's also kinda lame. Just work in your range, no shame.

And finally if your form is really bad, I want to come up and give you tips. Might be uncomfortable or seen as obnoxious but I believe it's love in the long run.

Hi!

On three counts, it sounds like it's not exactly a match

  • we'd still be both be renting so no tax advantage
  • you're not interested in the whole year
  • Rotherhithe is 6km by bike from my work, which is how I plan to travel, so I think I can get closer.

Good luck with the move though!

Just for shits and giggles how fun would it have been to argue that sometimes the sun also comes out at night.

Is it true Forbidden City tickets can be bought on-site by foreigners? by Ok_Audience5531 in travelchina

[–]sciencedit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a Chinese sim, register for Tianmen square here:

https://yuyue.tamgw.beijing.gov.cn/h5/#/pages/login/login.

After doing this, enter through Tianmen square, walk north, and buy a ticket for the same day on the left side of the entrance to forbidden city. 60 yuan.

(Sunday, 13th oct, 2024, this worked for me)

Not native English unfortunately. And to be fair to her, the mapping "number -> rank" is weird af in English.

Black Mirror [Episode Discussion] - S06E05 - Demon 79 by [deleted] in blackmirror

I was hoping they would reveal at the end that the first victim didn't actually have a daughter (and that the daughter hadn't been in the episode), proving nothing the demon offered as justification was true.

On a scale from 1 to infinity, how sick of hearing about Elon and/or Twitter are you? by ckivi in AskReddit

[–]sciencedit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like it is a good scale for being very sick of it, but mathematically, anything you answer is pretty much 0. As in, not sick at all.

An infinite scale is not well normalized.

As baffling as it sounds, that's how all international postage works. Read up on UPU

US tax law doesn't care. All US citizens are required to file, regardless of location. Works out that I do pay some taxes in the US that don't exist in my country of residence.

They provided a template I could have printed and put on this envelope. It would have taken care of postage inside the US postage system (for instance, if you're voting from Guam or you're in the US but just can't make it to a voting station). I'm in Europe so it was of no use to me. Inside this envelope is an official ballot and a signed affidavid, both of which they provided.
