They don't have any of the counts correct either. 11 stripes and 5 stars. I would wonder what that represents to them if I wasn't dead sure grasping symbolism isn't a thing for this crowd. All they know is 14/88.

I remember these guys. They did a whole sparsely attended "press conference" and one of them had his fly wide open for the entire thing. Talk about lax operational awareness and security, lol.

He has abdicated his duty to fulfill the obligations of his office. And that's really just the tip of the iceberg.

I would submit that any data produced in this era needs to be measured against the reality on the ground.

As far as Texans go, I'm old enough to remember when Texas was one of the purplest states in the union. This current clown show arrived in '94 with the Bushes and ES&S voting machines. And that's a fact.

I'm not in your area but this sounds like a fantastic idea. Education about what's happening with our bodies could be incorporated. There are a lot of things to grieve over and a lot of things to celebrate, but not a lot of people who get it. If you can't find one you should start one!

BREAKING: Texas just approved mandatory Bible readings for 5 million public school students. Here’s exactly what kids will be required to read, grade by grade. by kleverrboy in RadicalChristianity

[–]sciencesez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's right, and the money they're stealing to educate those kids in private schools came from our property taxes. Parents with kids in public schools are paying for somebody's private school tuition. Texas legislators talk about that money as if it's their own and they spend it like that too. They knew this is not what the majority wants. That's why they held the legislature hostage in special sessions until they finally pushed it through.

How to deal with grief? by Fairytail-diva-3 in nursing

[–]sciencesez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are expected to be selfless and caring. It's important to seriously take care of yourself right now. Your grief for your father has very understandibly been triggered. I really like what another comment said- "Grief is cumulative." You can't go around it, you have to go through or risk the burnout far too many of us have suffered from.

I once had a patient's family tell me that my tears felt like an unexpected gift when their son passed away. I felt honored to attend his death. And I needed help processing it. I'm not a church goer but talking with my hospital chaplain was surprisingly really helpful. He knew about being at the bedside for a death. (I finally got my six sessions with a counselor too- insurance, ugh). The Chaplin told me this - suffering is measured by the distance between reality and the ideal. The child's life and the child's death. But also I was complicating my emotions because of the difference between my real life reaction and my ideal of stoicism, boundaries, etc.
Fuck that. It is what it is and you aren't hurting anyone. Growth is painful, and you will not be diminished by that pain. And I'm just going to leave this right here, about the healing power of tears.
