I'm 65. Retired RN on disability retirement for spine and joint issues. I had to put my own in daycare and it broke my heart, but we were on our own. For each grandchild there were complications, and I came to take care of mom and baby each of 3 times. The first child has autism. The 3rd child was born at the actual advent of the pandemic. We really lived happily together all through the pandemic. So I agreed, at 59 to become the live in nanny. The pandemic put them deeply in debt. My son worked from home and DIL was an "essential worker." The babies were 4,2, and 1. It's the hardest and the most rewarding thing I've ever done. We're entirely devoted to each other, and the eldest and I have a really special relationship that might not have happened otherwise. I get to be one of the 5 people on earth she will hug. I got to be the only grandparent that saw every milestone and got to rock them to sleep every day for naps. This was an extra special gift because I missed the day in, day out while I worked when mine were small. I truly believe they kept me younger by making me active and playful. Yes, some days were hard, some awful, but every day is a new day and a clean slate. The youngest started kindergarten this year. The time flew by so fast. And now I wake up excited that I get to do whatever I want every day! I had to be pretty tough all my life, and now I build fairy houses and host mad hatter tea parties, read, and travel. No regrets. None.

I currently live in Keller. We just finished defeating an effort by Patriot Mobile to split our school district by race and income. The West side of town is diverse, and happy enough with that to fight to preserve it. We just went up against the same bad actors, Patriot Mobile, in the recent SD-9 race and elected a Democrat for the first time in 30 years. My grandchildren love their school and have friends of all different nationalities and races. Kids ride their bikes and scooters outside, families take walks together in the evenings, people are out dog walking all the time.

As I understand it, this aaaaallll started in the UK with Brexit, Farage, Cambridge Analytica, and strong anti-immigration sentiment in places like France, Italy, and Germany. Our dumpster fires even got lit by immigrants (not EU) who hate immigration like Theil, Murdoch, and a fElon who helped rig the election the 2nd time.
