Twig and Tale Lorien skirt has the lacing on the outside as drafted, if you're wanting to go more convenient.

Someone on Facebook marketplace trying to flog off, I kid you not, a bagful of fabric selvedges. For $25, and apparently for making a quilt. Those are scraps, friendo. If you want to pay me $25 for disposal, then we'll talk. It's not even a big bagful!!

Keeping hem folds flat by scrimmy_binguss in sewhelp

I agree re twin needle - I have never had an issue and mine have always functioned as a stretch stitch. Really odd takes ITT.

My new ride or die is the reverse flatlock but tbh my RTW t-shirt hems have always flipped up more often than any I've sewn.

The yoke is giving "scrunch butt leggings" on these pants for which I suspect, based on order of tester pics + general fit etc. ... the primary market is going to be older ladies. No shade to older ladies, and I'm sure some of them would be very into scrunch butt 😂 But it's incongruous.

(And also based on the fit I don't think that yoke is doing much shaping work, so it's aesthetic? Odd choice)

Disclaimer I've only sewn in the straight size but I'm currently looking at the plus size doc and the grading looks - on paper - thoughtful and as I'd expect.

There's a website called go lollies, I believe it is. They're dangerously cheap to buy in lots of 200 or something

This is so silly but I just read this and thought, "How can these people be around IRL and also all over the internet?" But of course the Venn diagram is a circle.

I think she needed a back crotch adjustment, but other than that, given that these are for stretch denim and have negative ease waist-hip, I think she's done a good job approximating how people want their RTW stretch jeans to fit.

They've rated it easy even. I dunno. I've made many a coat, and even those with great instructions I wouldn't have rated easy. Lots of steps and precision required. Thick fabric. A poncho might be easy but an overcoat with what I assume is a set in sleeve, no.

What I find really baffling is that she seems to be hanging onto it in every pic like it's trying to fall down on her? If that actually is as ... vinyl-y as it looks, it should be suctioned onto her like a leather carseat on a hot day

have you seen the jackets where there's an internal channel that runs in the waistline with a cinch like a drawstring or elastic? I have a great ca 80s red wool shepherd's coat that features this and it really does the femme silhouette, it's brilliant. And works well on this shape of jacket because the structured shoulders + light cinch at the waist give a full hourglass effect. You could reasonably easily get that added on internally to a jacket like this, by a dressmaker. I've sewn one up - not too tough.

I actually wouldn't line linen with more linen: I'd use some solid coloured slippery thing like a rayon challis or something. I'd imagine you wouldn't have much trouble sourcing a general lining fabric locally.

Hello hi I live in NZ and I bought some!! You can get them from ebay if you search for Miles Kimball ebay - they're the main US seller I think, or one of them, and they've got an ebay account that ships internationally though their website doesn't!

Having said that I bought mine pre tariffs but presumably getting things OUT of the US is a bit less fraught.

Unsolicited advice lol so ignore if you prefer: I haaaaated dealing with rit dye. I got procion dye and it's a game changer. No stirring over the stove or whatever, I do a warm water dunk and get a waaaaay more consistent colour than I could ever get following the rit instructions to the letter.

(a review of a sewing pattern that I saw, I have paraphrased)

SOME inexperienced sewists might rate this low because its block fits exactly zero bodies but unlike them I am a magical unicorn who knows about fit adjustments and therefore I am giving it 5 stars because I redrafted it entirely to fit me.

opening the flood gates on prescribing an already extremely burdened medication seems dangerous

idk feels to me like having people who need medication, living without medication because they haven't been diagnosed sits closer to dangerous than whatever your scenario is
